Merge with Mitsubishi L200?
editThere seems to be so little here that it could all be contained within the L200 page. There's already plenty of precedent for this, given Mitsubishi's penchant for giving the same model about 15 bazillion names depending on the marketplace; in Wikipedia they're typically handled by redirects (see Mitsubishi Sapporo, Mitsubishi Pajero, Mitsubishi Chariot, etc etc etc). Now that L200 is the official Japan-market name, I think it's time to merge this stub. It's been pretty much neglected since it was created six months ago. --DeLarge 23:37, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

As? They SIMPLY DO NOT (OR POSSIBLY DON'T WANT TO) KNOW, that there are in fact, many vehicles still ACTIVELY REGISTERED. Including an original 1978 COLT model, of T-120-Y series Cab/Chassis Flat-deck TRUCK in existence, especially in New Zealand, where LOTS of the MITSUBISHI COLT TRUCK (cab&chassis) were sold from 1976 - 1978+. Not the least of which - is one VERY WELL KNOWN "COLT" T-120-Y WIDE BODY, Flat Deck Truck (flat-deck pickup truck unit), pictures of which are on the Mitsubishi Truck wikia: http://tractors.wikia.com/wiki/Mitsubishi_pickup_trucks
Also there, are FOUR GENUINE JAPANESE INSTRUCTION / WOPRKSHOP MANBUALS / TEXTBOOKS (written in English) that cover a whole raft of years - that model TRUCK (COLT) was produced, with it's 4 cylinder Neptune Motor.
So - merging (and subsequent deletion) of important information about the ORIGINAL COLT/DELICA models is an abomination when one attempts to catelogue the T-120-Y series of COLT (truck) models. Or as an L200, as some attempted to call them.!!!!
WHO CARES if a subject matter is NEGLECTED.? It doesn't mean that it is now due for deletion. Simply because no one is bothered to REMEMBER why it was written about, after several hundred, if not a few thousand - were sold AND CAN STILL BE FOUND (fully registered) in New Zealand..?

...and... merged it back again. According to MMC's Japanese website they sell a Triton over there now. I've also consolidated the Mitsubishi Forte page in here, because of the overlap with the L200 name. --DeLarge 16:29, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

most the second and third generation L200 are know as Strada. i have to admit there is no source since it is a old car. fine, talking about source how about Mitsubishi Forte? where is the source? How about Mighty Max?
and the new L200 know as Strada in Philippines, with source from Mitsubishi Philippine, doesn't it count reliable!?

The Mitsubishi L200 is a compact pickup truck produced by Mitsubishi Motors. The L200 was originally the import version of the Mitsubishi Forte, which had been produced since 1978. When the Forte was discontinued in the Japanese market, the L200 name took the Forte's place in 1987. Meanwhile, it was meant to the debut of the 2nd generation.
The L200 was available in three bodystyles; regular cab, extended cab (which Mitsubishi called the "Macro Cab"), and crew cab (which was not sold in North America). The L200 was sold in North America as the Mitsubishi Mighty Max and was also sold there by the Chrysler Corporation as the Dodge Ram 50. The Ram 50 was discontinued in 1993, while the Mighty Max lasted until 1996. The Mighty Max was eventually replaced by the Mitsubishi Raider (a rebadged Dodge Dakota) for 2006.
The 3rd generation was the first model which built in Thailand, not Japan. The redesign progressions were run again for the 2005 model year. The vehicle is also built in Thailand, but to create a race vehicle first. Called Mitsubishi RTE (RTE stands for Racing Truck Evolution. But in 2006, it was renamed to Racing Triton Evolution). Driven by Mana Pornsiricherd, who took this duty over Pornsawan Siriwattanakul (because of his age). It's objectives: to race in Dakar Rally (2005 & 2006). Till the midyear 2005, the production models have been completed. Known in Thailand, Australia and New Zealand as the Mitsubishi Triton. Triton is the first 3200 cc diesel pickup in its class, and so of Thai truck market. Even though the RTE's objective has been failed twice.
2005 models Most recently, an all-new model was introduced for the 2005 model year. This features an all-new range of engines, but with the same bodystyles: crew-cab, single cab and an extended cab for certain markets.
The 4th generation of Mitsubishi's global pickup truck history. Certainly based on the RTE model. In the past, the name Triton is already a name for Mitsubishi pickup trucks for Australian market. Till now, the company announced in 2006 that it would export the truck to 140 global markets - excluding North American markets. It is already on sale in Europe with the L200 name. In Mitsubishi's native Japan, the Triton is sold there too, with third mirror on the front thread. And that, Mitsubishi is the last one Japanese manufacturer with one-tonner pickup truck on the Japanese lineup.

- Oppose: as per Wikipedia:CARS/Conventions#Titles: Each article shall be titled with the model name used in the subject vehicle's home market, unless a single name other than the home-market name is used in English-speaking markets, and the home market is not English-speaking. The only English-speaking market using the L200 name is the UK, where sales are relatively low. The vehicle's home market of Japan uses "Triton" as does Thailand, its country of manufacture and where the vast majority of Tritons/L200s are sold. The English-speaking countries of Australia, New Zealand and South Africa also use the "Triton" name, so moving the page to "L200" would be against the Wikipedia:CARS page titles convention. 09:43, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
- If the UK is the only market selling the L200 and indeed the sales are low then why does an English-only Google search represent 2.2 million results to just 1.4 million Triton results?
- And most of the mentioned countries there aren't applicable since they don't use English.
- Not to keep bringing Google into it OSX but your argument for the sales amounts and countries of sale doesn't add up in this instance.

- Thailand is by the largest market in the world for pickups after North America [1]. At least one in three cars in that country is a pickup truck in the style of the Triton. Sales of pickups in Australia are also very high, with the Hilux being in the top four each month for sales. Japan and Thailand can be considered the original markets (both use the "Triton" name). Since only one of the four English-speaking markets uses the name "L200" then the "Triton" name is correct as per Wikipedia:CARS/Conventions#Titles. You would need to gain a consensus to change the existing one (which WP:CARS spent much time working on) if this page was to be moved.
- The Google test will include other languages that use the Latin character set, even if you choose "English only" (believe me I've tried it). Thailand and Japan use a different character set so those results will not be included. The L200 name is used in Germany as well, hence the results.
- Take a look on the Mitsubishi South Africa website to confirm that the Triton name is in fact used there. OSX (talk • contributions) 11:50, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
- L200 has also been used in a number of other European countries, which will skew the Google results. Additionally, Google takes your location into account which can make google hits rather useless. As for calling this article Triton or L200... I don't know for sure, but I think it would be more worthwhile for us to improve and expand the articles at the current juncture. Also remember that both Forte and Strada have been used for longer in Japan (Triton label only since 2006), which is a good case for calling this Mitsubishi L200 and covering all four generations. ⊂| Mr.choppers |⊃ (talk) 19:10, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
- Mr.choppers, you raise a reasonable suggestion about a single article titled "L200". My main issue is that the L200 name is maninly used in Europe only, and of these countries only the UK is English speaking. I also don't like the idea of having an L200 page but no L300 page (as it is named "Mitsubishi Delica"). Due to the profusion of names used in various places over the years, I feel that this article should exist under the "Triton" name and only detail the current generation of the car. Separate pages for the Forte and Strada can then be created. These articles could be created quickly and easily based on 三菱・フォルテ (Forte — first generation), 三菱・ストラーダ (Strada — second, third generation), and 三菱・トライトン (Triton — fourth generation).
