This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Tennis. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion

Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:

Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Tennis|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.

There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.

Removing a closed AfD discussion

Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.

Other types of discussions

You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Tennis. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.

Delete - based on my reading of WP:NTENNIS, I don't think that the subject meets the bar for notability, based on the various stats sites I came across, and the article in its current incarnation. There are several pages published by Tennis Norge that have more coverage, but this seems limited to the subject's participation in the national team fielded at the Fed Cup. That does not seem sufficient to me, but I would happily defer to WP:TENNIS. SunloungerFrog (talk) 20:57, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Alexey Zakharov

Non-notable tennis player who fails to meet WP:GNG and WP:NTENNIS. Sources I found, at least in English, are just routine match coverage. Keep - He is one of the famous athletes and is mentioned in more than 30 en:Wikipedia articles. He became a quarterfinalist of junior Grand Slam tournaments four times. In total, he participated in 12 junior Grand Slam tournaments and is accordingly mentioned in articles about these tournaments. He became the winner of ten ITF junior tournaments (2 in singles), reaching 12th place in the ITF World Junior ranking (2018). During 2024, he was a finalist once and quarter finalists twice on the ATP Challenger Tour - see: 2024 ATP Challenger Tour. I've added some more content and citations to this article (one in English and two in Dutch). Not sure if that makes it now meet the required criteria for significant coverage but thought I'd point it out. Keep meets GNG thanks to coverage in major Malta sources such as [1] [2] [3] [4] (Times of Malta) and [5] (Malta Independent). Iffy★Chat -- 10:37, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Iffy the coverage in Times of Malta is pretty solid, but they all count as 1 source only per WP:GNG ("Multiple publications from the same author or organization"). Malta Independent's ref is just a match report and is not a significant coverage of Pellicano. I'll see if I can find something more. Jovanmilic97 (talk) 19:06, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
