This is now a Spoken Article
[edit]I strongly feel this article is in dire need of revision. Not only is it missing information that was presented in the Netflix Documentary "Tiger King: Murder, Madness, and Mayhem", it also contains several mechanical errors that would likely prevent most people from reading it with any degree of fluency. My recent contributions to Wikipedia have been in the form of the spoken word rather than the written word, but with permission from the appropriate contributors to this page, I would be happy to correct some of the errors that I noticed.

Given Name
[edit]According to my reading, Mahamayavi Bhagavan is his birth name and Kevin a moniker. Shouldn't Mahamayavi Bhagavan not be in quotes and Kevin in quotes? Reluctant to make change without consensus due to the focus on this article. - dashiellx (talk) 12:57, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
- Is there a reliable source that refers to him as "Kevin"? —BarrelProof (talk) 09:34, 15 April 2020 (UTC)

Question for ZooFriend
[edit]Hi ZooFriend. I noticed you've been working on getting this article created since at least January 2017, are supplying images for the article that you are claiming ownership of (e.g. the photo you took of Bhagavan Antle and a tiger on 2020-05-21), and some of your edits have been reverted for being considered too promotional and relying heavily on primary sources. Do you have any conflicts of interest you would like to disclose? 198.52.130.137 (talk) 22:48, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
Reads like publicity blurb
[edit]The encyclopedia value of this page is near zero. It present like publicity blurb not NPV. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.100.188.53 (talk • contribs) 10:15, September 18, 2020 (UTC)
- True. But that is the nature of the beast (pardon the pun). With articles such as historic events, content is presented and the tone is constructed in a NPOV based on the sources that provide the information; much like notable figures that are not controversial in nature (pardon the pun again) such as an author, whose primary career can be found in their works and critical analysis of such. With BLPs like Antle, unfortunately, most of the draw and allure for his notability for inclusion is based on sensationalism found in public interest on a vast commercial scale. You will most likely find a trivial expose on him in a supermarket check-out magazine than a full length in-depth feature in National Geographic. On account of this, the more shocking blurbs sell the most magazines; and this is what presently makes up most of Antle's coverage. Not to mention, his profession is some what of a controversy to some. That being said, if you have reliable sources that can provide a better NPOV for the article; you are more than welcome to help make it a better piece of writing and more encyclopedic by contributing. Thanks. BTW, don't forget to sign your name with 4 tilde {~} at the end of each posts. Maineartists (talk) 16:59, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
- he was in a cult. his sexual assault allegations aren't some minor tablod coverage. having this article read like a promotional material for a cult leader who preys on teenage girls is deeply disturbing. Scu ba (talk) 23:15, 14 February 2024 (UTC)
"legal trouble" removed
[edit]We do not include such absent a conviction. 204.76.134.30 (talk) 08:30, 15 November 2020 (UTC)
- Who is "we"? Maineartists (talk) 12:35, 15 November 2020 (UTC)
I think it's fair to include in his "legal trouble" that he was arrested last night after an FBI investigation that is presumed to include money laundering: https://nypost.com/2022/06/03/doc-antle-of-tiger-king-arrested-by-fbi/ Much more Antle can be found at docantle.com 173.169.61.220 (talk) 12:58, 4 June 2022 (UTC) Carole Baskin
Given Name
[edit]According to the new Netflix documentary, Kevin is his birth name, and he and his first wife (who is still alive) changed their names at Yogaville, VA, as part of their one month yoga retreat. 2604:2D80:5F80:F000:0:0:0:697C (talk) 20:29, 10 December 2021 (UTC)
Doctorate
[edit]According to the article Antle claims to hold a PhD, that said, the Netflix documentary features a clip of him explicitly claiming to have\be an MD ("I'm a doctor, right, on one side. I'm Doc because I'm an MD. And so I got a whole. I've gone through and done a lot of autopsies. I've been through a lot of bodies, seen a lot of sickness"). Moreover, quoting what I believe to be his blog: "Bhagavan traveled to China where he received a Doctoral degree in Chinese medicine". Given the lack of properly sourced accrediting body, I believe the inconsistencies surrounding his doctoral degree may be of more encyclopedic value than the claimed doctorate by itself... 109.64.234.76 (talk) 12:38, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
Concerns about the lede
[edit]In February 2022, an editor expressed concerns about the lede by stating: "the lead violates WP:INTRO principles in presenting material not in main body, and failing to summarize all and only key article points" and "citations emphasizing child sexual abuse accusations are used repeatedly for biographical information without unequivocal statement of their primary concern (no mention of it outside of citation titles)" and "AV and other citations are used as general support (confirming existence of works) rather than substantiating specific purported facts in sentences."
I removed the multiple issues tag from the top of the article as it may be more productive to discuss this at talk. Prior to the subject's recent arrest by the FBI, the sourcing has been rather limited in quantity and quality to repeat potential BLP issues in the lede. This will likely change over the coming days and months due to the arrest which will generate better quality coverage of the subject and his history. It may be best to wait and modify as the sourcing develops more clearly. Reasonable minds may disagree. Cedar777 (talk) 08:12, 9 June 2022 (UTC)
Cult membership
[edit]Why is the fact he was in a cult for decades brushed under the rug? Especially when he has been accused of molesting and sexually assulting minors while in this cult, and continuing to do so, because that was how the cult was run. Antle's connection to Swami Satchidananda is barely mentioned in passing and is extremely disturbing that it is barely in this article. Scu ba (talk) 23:14, 14 February 2024 (UTC)
