it isn't a proper source...it is just some guy who entered a post...also it is based upon the assumption that Karachi's economy is 25% of Pakistan's which in itself in un-sourced (actually it is supposed to be around 20% as per ADB publications)...so i would suggest reverting back to a citation needed status

Hello

[edit]

Hello, please sign in your name next time so that I can reply to you. Latest figures put the GDP figure at 25%.

Hi. Please delay working on your temporary page for a few minutes. I am attempting to get it in order for main publication, and I cannot complete my review if it is expanding while I am doing so. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:31, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's in article space and ready to be worked on further. Thank you for addressing this. One thing I need to point out, though, is that you can't duplicate text from external sources unless these can be verified to be public domain or licensed compatibly with Wikipedia's current license of GFDL. It can be challenging to rewrite completely, but I'm afraid we have to, unless we are quoting limited amounts of text under the policy of WP:NFC. I had to revise some of your text to separate it from the source. See, for example, this diff. That language belongs to the copyright holders, and we have to follow Wikipedia's rules for using "owned" language. Please let me know at my talk page if you have any questions about this. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:45, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Hi

[edit]

Sure, just go ahead. But there is also problem. The list does not include several occupations that are pertinent for emigrating Pakistanis i.e. people in sciences. So, the list does not give a fair picture of reality. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mustihussain (talkcontribs) 10:24, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

British Pakistanis

[edit]

I am considering nominating British Pakistanis as a Good article because I think that it is well written and has a neutral point of view (amongst other other criteria). Do you think that the article needs any extra work doing or are you happy with me nominating it to be assessed?

Thank you for uploading this media, It would be appreciated if you could add :

  • 1-2 paragraphs explaining what is shown in the image.
  • A source for the statistical data used in this image.

As well as helping those categorising the image, it will help place the image in context and allow other users of the image (including academics) to make better use of the image :) Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:40, 12 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there- I too enjoy your map work- particularly the map that breaks down the literacy rate in Pakistan. I would like to use it for a classroom assignment so if you could please note on here the source, that would be ever so helpful! Could you please write some information on your wall about where you are living right now, what is your nationality etc. This information is helpful in organizing wiki-meetups and getting more photographs from a particular region. Initially, I suggest using a Template:Userbox...before you submerge yourself in depths of html language...

Hi! (again)

[edit]

I am 18, from Lahore, and have been over wikipedia over a one year. When I started, I had no knowledge about how to use this HTML language. I had to visit other editors's user pages for information about how they did it. They would not mind at all. This is not facebook, people at wikipedia are very nice, unselfish and are willing to help (thats exactly why they contribute so much to wikipedia). You can share anything you want from my sub-pages if you want too. I does not matter. (When you were editing my talk page, there was a notice above that said, you could share anything you want).

Initially, I suggest using a Template:Userbox...before you submerge yourself into depths of html...
some suggestions
First of all, your total edits of user page should not increase the total edits of actual wikipedia pages. If they do this would mean that you spend more time decorating your own page then contributing to wikipedia. See your edit count here. My edits of user page are near 8% so I am okay.

I would suggest that you make a few subpages. You can make as many as you want. For example:

  • You can make a sandbox of your own. Here you can make rough edits to see if the html script you wrote really works or not. I you will make wrong/rough edits on actual wikipedia articles, you would either mess it up and other users might think you have done vandalism. So use the sandbox for rough works before making large changes to articles. Start your sandbox User:A Fantasy/Sandbox like this.
  • There are other subpages, like To Do List, Awards, Contributions, Userboxes etc. All you have to do is write User:A Fantasy/{{NAME OF SUB-PAGE}} to start.
  • If you visit my page there is a header (or a menu of my sub-pages). It is actually a template which is merged into the page. See Template:User Farjad0322 to see the actual header template. When you would want to place such a header on your pages, simply write {{User Farjad0322}}. Start your own header Template:User A Fantasy.
Tips for using htnl language a little more easily...:
  • If you wnat to use a divbox, see Template:divbox
  • If you want to put something in the center of a page, enclose it in <center> ...... TEXT...... </center>
  • If you want to leave a clear space enter this {{clear}} see Template:clear
  • If you wnat to start writing from below from a certain point, write <br> (a function like an 'enter' key on your keyboard)...
  • If you want to make a long line simply write <hr>
  • If you want to make columns on a page...see Template:col-begin
  • If you want to hide something, see Template:hidden begin

I can't answer everything right now...but ask as many questions anytime you want...about colours, borders, tables, images, fonts, anything...Also do a little self-research...its the best learning...You can also use help...

You need (not a necessity) to start editing your home page by yourself a little. I dont know how you want it to look like.

Karachi statistics

[edit]

Hi! Thanks for finding and adding more recent statistics for the demographic composition of Karachi. It is nice to see something more recent than the old 1998 figures. I do have one concern, though, and before reverting your edits I thought I'd bring it up with you and see what you think. In the original source, the one you overwrote, the statistics were based on language spoken. Your source's statistics relate to ethnic group, not language. Meanwhile, the Wikipedia paragraph begins with "The most commonly spoken languages in Karachi are..." and the rest of the paragraph still relates to language, with the exception of the stats you added. Obviously mother tongue and ethnic group are not entirely interchangeable. It may seem a minor point, especially since the old language numbers are relatively similar to the new ethnic numbers, but nonetheless I wanted to draw your attention to the discrepancy and ask how you think it would best be handled. Rewrite the whole paragraph to be about ethnic groups? Or revert to the older language statistics until new ones can be found that are about language spoken? Or...? you did an excellent job by updating the gcse-pass-rate-by-year table. could you please also update this gcse-by-year plot [1] ? I also suggest to remove all other plots and tables to gain more clarity and to make the section more readable i.e. the gcse-pass-rate-by-year table and a new updated gsce-by-year plot is more than enough.-- mustihussain (talk) 23:39, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
