[edit]Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to Hey Duggee—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Help desk. Thanks. Materialscientist (talk) 13:55, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
I don’t want to start an edit war, but I was trying to make the section more concise, as it contains unnecessary information, while leaving out some crucial info, and many of the descriptions are poorly written, with poor grammar and spellings, so I attempted a rewrite, making it clearer. However I was quite bold with my edit. If you disagree with my edit, feel free to bring it up on the hey Duggee talk page. I am a mere amateur at editing, and would welcome some constructive feedback and help. HenryTemplo (talk) 17:27, 28 December 2020 (UTC)

Hello, HenryTemplo,
In your edit summary of this now-deleted article, you questioned whether you had done a proposed deletion appropriately. Well, yes and no. The tagging was fine and you stated in your edit summary that you were doing a PROD (very important), but you neglected to post a notification on the talk page of the page creator. When you are tagging pages for any type of deletion (CSD, PROD, AFD/RFD/TFD/etc.), things are made easier if you make use of Twinkle which is an editing tool on Wikipedia. Once you set up your Twinkle Preferences to "Notify page creator", well, then Twinkle will post these notices for you which makes thing easy and convenient. I recommend you try it out as notification is an important step in the deletion process. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 22:31, 6 January 2022 (UTC)
Thankyou for you feedback, Liz! And also thanks for introducing me to twinkle, Will definitely use it in future. Again, thankyou,

HenryTemplo (talk) 11:31, 9 March 2022 (UTC)- Ok, thanks me! HenryTemplo (talk) 11:32, 9 March 2022 (UTC)
- Good work. But maybe leave the book be, as It is a coincidence that you prodded the similarly named book. I've moved book to (book). thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 11:38, 9 March 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the feedback! However, in regards to the book, while yes, the book is similarly named as the article, it hasn’t got any references, and I’m not confident about its notability (I should of probably said that in the summary). If you disagree, that’s fine, we can discuss it on the talk page for that article. Thanks for moving the page though! And again, thankyou for the feedback. Speedy deletion nomination of Coincidance (song)
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Coincidance (song) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article does not exist or is eligible for deletion itself. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for music.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. - Nothing personal dude, just realised you did the Coincidance one too!!! I must say again, you're a great editor, and this has nothing to do with your writing skills---it's not really your fault that the topic is inherently notable. Similar to the Coincidance article, the Hitler teapot one was well-crafted but I'm just not seeing evidence of notability. I'm really sorry Kingoflettuce (talk) 13:33, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
- My advice is to stick to topics that aren't so recent and have a range of sources covering them. You'll develop an instinct as to how 'trivial' something is over time. Harry Whanslaw, which I see you've added a fair bit to, is a great example of what you should be focusing your talent on! :) Kingoflettuce (talk) 13:36, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
- I guess you could say it was a … Coincidance :) . No hard feelings, I see the funny side! Thanks for the advice as well, it’s appreciated. I’ll check out the deletion page, do a little defending, and find some more things to do while I do. All the best, HenryTemplo (talk) 15:12, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
- Tho I might have erred in the Hitler case, somebody dug up sources I hadn't managed to find. :P Still I find we are becoming increasingly inclusionist... Kingoflettuce (talk) 15:17, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
- No worries, we all make errors, especially me! Rightio, thanks for your wise and kind words, I’ll be off editing, enjoy your day! HenryTemplo (talk) 15:22, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
- On second thought, a closer inspection of the sources show that they're pretty frivolous (expectedly when the teapot itself is frivolous so there's nothing much that can be spun off it). I think the fundamental problem is there really isn't a need to create an article for something that goes viral or gets a lot of clicks on the Web. It detracts from the spirit of an encyclopedia, even a non-paper one like Wikipedia. In this case, the most 'substantive' reporting all come from March 2013, suggesting that this doesn't have any lasting influence. Kingoflettuce (talk) 15:36, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
- Mmmmm, should we take this to the deletion page? I’d be up for discussion there. HenryTemplo (talk) 15:38, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
- With all due respect to the folks there, some of them seem to be making knee-jerk comments just based off how the article/overall sourcing "look". I've pretty much reiterated my thoughts there anyhow. Sometimes an article that really ought to be deleted gets kept, and vice versa. That's the game here. Kingoflettuce (talk) 15:43, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
- I suppose so, but I suppose it is just Wikipedia… (if I didn’t keep telling myself that I would of quit editing a while back!). Well, have a good day and all :) . HenryTemplo (talk) 15:48, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
- You too Mr Templo. Just know that some pesky editor (if not me :)) will tag your stuff for deletion if you keep working on topics like this, and I think it can be quite disheartening especially if you've invested a lot into it. Much harder to get rid of a page about a 20th-century puppeteer than it is something about a random Hitler-like teapot that was talked about for just a few days! Kingoflettuce (talk) 15:55, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
- I’m surprised it’s not the other way round to be fair! To be honest, I generally preferred working on the pop-culture articles (mainly because they are so much easier to source!) but I will still bare your far more experienced wisdom in mind when choosing articles to create. Well, ‘tis the nature of Wikipedia, as you said :) . HenryTemplo (talk) 16:04, 29 March 2022 (UTC)

- Thank you for entertaining us! - Congrats also for the stats for the walrus! - The teapot is also featured as the "quirky" entry of Portal:Germany. I changed it there, because I am not sure in which sense we can say "looked like" - as if it was in the past - and will say so at WP:ERRORS. - --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:12, 28 April 2022 (UTC)

anonymous user from 216.x translations from sr:
[edit]Hi there. I noticed you published Draft:Smail Smajo Ferović, but the article was one in a long line of articles 'translated from Serbian Wikipedia' by an anonymous user who is known for bad work, cf. Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/IncidentArchive1088#persistently_tendentious_new_articles_and_edits_by_anonymous_216.x. I've identified a number of basic sourcing issues in the article, corrected or tagged them, and reverted the promotion to main space until they're addressed. If you notice further articles like this, please apply more rigor. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 05:45, 17 May 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for your feedback! I wasn't aware of this users work when I approved the draft, I took the Serbian sources with good faith, as I don't speak Serbian... so I wasn't aware of any major sourcing issues, apart from the layout. I will certainly consider your feedback in future, Thankyou, and have a great day! HenryTemplo (talk) 05:50, 17 May 2022 (UTC)
Enquiry about reference
[edit]Hi Henry, thanks that you reviewed my article Draft: Everbright Securities International. You left a comment that this submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article. Actually I had added the official documents from Hong Kong Exchanges as references to the relevant part of the article. I want to know why they can not be valid references. Zxcvbnm123411 (talk) 03:32, 18 May 2022 (UTC)Zxcvbnm123411
- Hello, @Zxcvbnm123411. I would strongly recommend, if you haven't already, reading the rules on notability, especially regarding the notability policy for companies and organisations. In order for draft article in question to be suitable for Wikipedia, the subject has to be notable. Unfortunately, I do not think that the references currently prove notability, as they are either primary sources (stock transfer records) or reprinted press releases (as far as I could tell), which, sadly, do not prove notability. I'm sorry that your draft was declined, but sometimes, no matter how well written or referenced an article is, if the subject is not notable, then the article is not suitable for Wikipedia. Regardless, I wish you have a good day! :) - HenryTemplo (talk) 06:01, 18 May 2022 (UTC)

- I would, but I feel it may be more appropriate for a more experienced AfC reviewer to review that draft, as I cannot accurately judge many of the sources, due to me not being familiar with Indian media and the various languages spoken there, so I wouldn’t be able to accurately judge the notability of the subject. Review of Draft:Interoperable Master Format
[edit]Hi Henry. Many thanks for your speedy review of Draft:Interoperable Master Format. Please could I ask for a little advice on which bits are written in the wrong style? I suppose Architecture para#3 talking about benefits tries to explain why the format exists could be / should be made more fact based with citations. The Example uses section was intended to show people that IMF is real (the links were provided to me by the BBC, Netflix & Disney). The history section felt useful to an IMF novice, but adds no helpful information to what the format is. Are there gaps that I have not addressed? I really value your input. I am much more used to writing International Standards than Wikipedia articles. I look forward to your feedback. Thanks, Mrmxf (talk) 12:55, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
- Hello, @Mrmxf! When I declined the draft, I was worried about the way things were phrased, as they weren’t necessarily in line with Wikipedia’s policy on Neutral point of view (NPOV). Phrases like “At the heart” also don’t really fit the formal tone of an encyclopaedia like Wikipedia. I hope I’ve adressed your questions, and if you have any more questions, please feel free to ask them here or at the Teahouse. Happy editing! :) HenryTemplo (talk) 13:17, 23 May 2022 (UTC)

Clarification on review of Draft:Dibrospidium chloride
[edit]Thank you for your fast review of the draft, but since your review is vague, I can't know what you mean by "the existing article on the same subject". You and I know you can't post English (within the expected behavior of the Russian Wikipedia) on the Russian article on this medicine, which is the subject of this article. Are you just saying to look for a subject or am I missing something in my searches? There are several chemotherapy and drug discovery articles this could go under, are you suggesting I put this information on all of them? I'm not trying to be difficult nor am I trying to avoid your suggestion, I just can't do much with it. Also, there are shorter stubs out there than my article so I'm not exactly sure if I understand you on that either. I can't do better in the future if I don't understand you. In regards to the draft, since I am not at all an expert when it comes to chemotherapy, I thought that, since the article was very shortl it would be better as a part of a larger article. Of course, I'm not sure which article, since I'm no expert on the subject, but if you are an expert, then you can use your best judgment to decide where best to put the information. Happy editing! Rejection of Draft for Riya Mukherjee Bio
[edit]Hi HenryTemplo,
I'm trying to make a biography of podcaster, RJ and movie maker Riya Mukherjee. Several of my drafts have ben rejected for not using reputed sources. This time I have used mostly sources of leading Indian media houses like Hindustan Times, Times of India, Economic Times or Indian Express. But before submitting another draft I'd like to get your feedback on what I should do to get my draft through. You commented on it recently.
Thanks

- Hello, @Gwenzil! In regards to the draft Riya Mukherjee, when I declined it, It was quite lacking in inline citations to back up the information presented in the article, but having a quick glance now shows that this issue has been (largely) addressed, so that is no longer the problem (well done for sorting that out). However, your next hurdle is demonstrating notability, which is a little tricky, and also something (that I myself found out) no amount of editing can solve. However, I would say that the draft is probably improved enough now to resubmit. Happy editing! HenryTemplo (talk) 06:22, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Henry Templo,
- I have re-submitted the draft keeping your feedback in mind specifically. Do let me know if it is good to go now? Thanks Gwenzil (talk) 10:56, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hello, @Gwenzil, thanks for getting in touch again! The draft looks better, although there's a few NPOV and prose issues here and there that you might want to review (and you might need to remove the "early life" section as it doesn't have a citation to back it up). At this point, I don't think I can help any further, as now any reviewer needs to asses the sources to ensure the subject is notable, and unfortunately I am not familiar with Indian media, so I do not think I am qualified to review the draft now. You might want to see if anyone from a relevant WikiProject might be able to help and review the draft (maybe WikiProject India?). Good luck with the draft and have a great day! Decline of Draft:European Youth Parliament Belgium
[edit]Hi HenryTemplo! Thank you for taking the time to review my submission. As for your reasoning to decline the draft at this time, it said: "This submission does not appear to be written in the formal tone expected of an encyclopedia article". As it is quite vague, even when consulting the Wikipedia:Writing better articles page, I would kindly ask to give me an example in the draft where this is not the case or give some more feedback in general. Then I can work on the quality of the draft in order to resubmit it. Thanks in advance! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jefdruyts (talk • contribs) 14:30, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
- Hello, @Jefdruyts! When writing an article, as you probably know, you must always make sure it is written in the Neutral Point of View (NPOV). In this case, you should probably avoid having a section titled "Mission and Values" and make sure you avoid promotional wording like "come together to celebrate European connections and form their own solutions to current European issues.", which sound very promotional rather than neutral, formal and encyclopaedic. I hope I've answered your question, and happy editing! HenryTemplo (talk) 15:51, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
- Hello HenryTemplo! I looked at your last comment and implemented some changes in the 'History' section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:1810:4D7F:C700:BCA8:1B8C:ACDD:8571 (talk) 15:12, 24 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hello again! I hate to say it but there are still some NPOV issues, mainly in the prose of the History section, although you've done a great job at addressing some of the more glaring examples. This is the problem when editing with a conflict of interest, as it can sometimes be hard to "step back" metaphorically and write in a completely neutral and encyclopaedic way on subjects which you have a COI in, no matter how hard you may try. For me, what stood out was this sentence: "The EYP grew from a small school project in 1987 in Fontainebleau in France to the largest network for political debate, intercultural exchange and civic education for young people in Europe.". This sentence reads like the "about" or "history" page of the EYP's website, rather than a neutral encyclopaedia article, which would probably say something more to-the-point like: "The EYP started as a school project in 1987 in Fontainebleau, France." (for example). Asides from the aforementioned NPOV issues, you might want to add more citations to reliable, secondary, independent sources, to verify the information in the article and to demonstrate notability. Good luck, happy editing and have a great day! HenryTemplo (talk) 15:37, 24 July 2022 (UTC)

Decline of Draft: American Long Distance Hikers Association-West
[edit]You recently declined an article I wrote. I am not sure if I put the "request to delete" code in the right place -- can you please confirm that I did, and that the article has been deleted. I believed that my edits and the addition of several reliable, independent sources (a major regional newspaper, a national magazine) solved the problem of notability; I see that you disagree, but I'm afraid I can't put any more time into this and will leave it for someone else to tackle at some other time. Thank you. Geophiliac (talk) 16:58, 31 May 2022 (UTC)
- Hello, @Geophiliac! Just to confirm, yes, the draft has been deleted, so the delete tag was done correctly. I hope you find some new articles which you can work on, in fact, may I suggest you join a WikiProject? There's loads of different ones, you might be interested in WikiProject Geography. I will also say that proving notability is a tricky affair on Wikipedia, I myself had an article I started deleted because of the subject not being notable, but from my experience, it's best to never take it personally and move on in a positive way. Anyways, have a great day and happy editing! HenryTemplo (talk) 18:17, 31 May 2022 (UTC)

Sumaiya alvi 29 (talk) 02:18, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
- Hello @Sumaiya alvi 29! At the moment, the draft has quite a few problems. First, it is not written neutrally: "...Mazhar is very talented and a well known actor" is not very neutral. Secondly, there is a lack of inline citations, which are generally required when writing about living people. If you want to fix this issue, see referencing for beginners. Happy editing! HenryTemplo (talk) 06:11, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
Hi, can you please inform me of the changes I need to make to the draft to make it possible for it to me published? I have cited multiple credible sources that are all secondary and can cite precedent from other Wikipedia pages pertaining bands that I have referred to for making this article as tidy as possible. Please provide details of the changes that are to be made.

Hi there, you declined Frederick Robert Newton earlier with the message: A couple more sources like the first one should prove notability, have a great day!
The source that you were referring to was an Australian Dictionary of Biography article - that's a clear pass of WP:ANYBIO #3 and should be an auto-accept (once you check it isn't copyvio). Thanks, by the way, for your consistently positive tone with editors/articles in the AfC process. -- asilvering (talk) 20:40, 13 July 2022 (UTC)

- Hi HenryTemplo, thanks for the creation of the Scilly boys and the DYK nomination. I've read the article primarily to learn where the record is at and the record to beat and then while reading it, I also wanted to learn, at what point of the journey they capsized, ok day thirteen, but where? Near, New York, the Caribbean islands, Madeira or close to the goal? I didn't see anything about, but I guess this might that particular addition would increase readership satisfaction.Paradise Chronicle (talk) 04:28, 11 August 2022 (UTC)
- Hello @Paradise Chronicle, I think much of this information is in the Island Parish documentary, which unfortunately is unavailable to watch on the BBC's website. I do remember being shown the documentary however, and I think they were about 600 miles away from land when they capsized (?), and I think they where trying to beat the record for the shortest 4-man transatlantic row (?). Of course, I can't put this in the article without verifying it with what it says in the documentary, so I need to find a way of watching it! Anyway, Thank you for the feedback, have a great day! - Hello, IP user, welcome to my talk page! Regarding Draft:Anjali Appadurai, the reason why I declined the article was because it read like an advertisement or a promo piece, which is a problem, as all Wikipedia articles need to be written neutrally (see WP:Neutral Point of View). Fortunately, a user (I'm assuming you?) has done a great job at clearing up the most egregious NPOV violations. However, your next hurdle is demonstrating notability, which is defined slightly differently on Wikipedia. In order to be considered notable on Wikipedia and merit an article, the subject should be covered in multiple independent, secondary, reliable sources in non-trivial detail. Now, this requires a reviewer to assess the sources, which I am not really good at doing, especially when it comes to Canadian media and politics! You're best if waiting for a more experienced reviewer to come along and review the draft.
- Also, a very important note: If you are in anyway connected with Anjali Appadurai, please thoroughly read WP:Conflict of Interest. Good luck with the draft, have a great day and happy editing! HenryTemplo (talk) 19:25, 14 August 2022 (UTC)

However, I don't think I'm in a position to help you further with the article, unfortunately! Your best bet is to wait, or maybe ask a relevant WikiProject for advice. Good luck with the draft! False chart performance in accepted AFC article
[edit]Hello. I thought I let you know that the article creator at Jungle Cruise (soundtrack) added false charting performance before you accepted this article at AFC. I removed one of them as it did not appear in the citation and tagged the other one as I'm not 100% sure. Thanks! MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 01:01, 11 December 2023 (UTC)
