Welcome!
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia, Isra2911! Thank you for your contributions. I have been editing Wikipedia for some time, so if you have any questions feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. You can also check out Wikipedia:Questions or type {{help me}}
at the bottom of this page. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- Introduction
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- How to write a great article
- Discover what's going on in the Wikimedia community
Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); that will automatically produce your username and the date. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 15:00, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
Dates
[edit]Please don't change date styles like that. In Canada both d-m-y and m-d-y are used. The article should use whatever the first style used was. Also all but one of the articles you edit had the {{Use dmy dates}} on the page. See MOS:DATETIES, MOS:DATERET and MOS:TIES. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 15:00, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
- With respect to this edit, you've already been asked once to not change dates to your preferred format. Please see MOS:DATETIES, which explains that Canada uses either format, and WP:DATERET, which explains that articles should retain the format used when the article was first written. Mindmatrix 02:06, 28 January 2017 (UTC)
- And again, with Dilma Rousseff and Marc Ouellet. Please don't change dates to your own preferred format. Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 01:56, 7 September 2017 (UTC)
- Please read MOS:RETAIN: "When an English variety's consistent usage has been established in an article, maintain it in the absence of consensus to the contrary. With few exceptions (e.g., when a topic has strong national ties or a term/spelling carries less ambiguity), there is no valid reason for such a change." Note that the policy specifies national ties. Do not change spelling or date formats in articles about Mexico just to reflect US usage. If you persist in doing so you may be blocked for disruptive editing. Cobblet (talk) 18:58, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
- Hi there. Please don't make changes to articles without providing an edit summary. Also, as asked above, please do not change date formats to a mixed style or one of your choosing. Use the style that exists in the article and keep everything uniform. Thank you, Dawnseeker2000 17:07, 27 May 2019 (UTC)

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Flag_of_Christmas_Island, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 03:29, 9 June 2018 (UTC)

Edit summaries needed
[edit]Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)
Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.
Edit summary content is visible in:
Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! MX (✉ • ✎) 01:57, 21 January 2019 (UTC)

[edit]Hello. In a recent edit to the page Didacus of Alcalá, you changed one or more words or styles from one national variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.
For a subject exclusively related to the United Kingdom (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to another English-speaking country, such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, India, or Pakistan use the variety of English used there. For an international topic, use the form of English that the original author of the article used.
In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to another, even if you don't normally use the version in which the article is written. Respect other people's versions of English. They, in turn, should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Manual of Style. If you have any questions about this, you can ask me on my talk page or visit the help desk. Elizium23 (talk) 02:56, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
I have some questions. 13 November is British format. "Honored" is American format. Are they mixed? Isra2911 (talk) 03:23, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
- dmy format dates are not limited to British usage, nor is "honored" limited to American usage. At any rate, yes, they are independent of each other, though consistency is better. See WP:DATEOVER and WP:ENGVAR for some gudelines. Also, per WP:RETAIN, we try to retain these styles in the article unless there are compelling reasons to change them. I can say that consistency would be a good reason to change the style, although which one? Elizium23 (talk) 03:43, 9 February 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Norwegian language. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page, and seek consensus with them. Alternatively, you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant noticeboards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. You have been repeatedly told about WP:ENGVAR, yet continue changing national variety needlessly. [edit]Please stop. If you continue to use disruptive, inappropriate or hard-to-read formatting, as you did at Flag of Norway, you may be blocked from editing. There is a Wikipedia Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. Still violating WP:ENGVAR. TylerBurden (talk) 20:42, 22 December 2023 (UTC)

- OK, that's enough. Please respect the rules at MOS:RETAIN. Will report if this behaviour continues. Thank you for your contributions. 162 etc. (talk) 20:47, 9 June 2024 (UTC)
Your continued ignoring of MOS:RETAIN
[edit]I see that you were reminded of MOS:RETAIN a month ago by 162 etc., after having been informed of it multiple times going back all the way to 2017. You really need to stop changing English-variations for no reason.
You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Papua New Guinea. Egsan Bacon (talk) 01:13, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
Date formats
[edit]Please stop changing date formats. Both 1 June 2024 and June 1, 2024 are correct in Canada. Masterhatch (talk) 01:53, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
