Emulated releases

[edit]

Hi, like you might have seen in my edit comment at Persona 2: Innocent Sin, the current consensus (as documented in Template:Infobox video game) is to not list emulated releases in video game infoboxes - only platforms the game was developed for or specifically ported to. So that means Persona 2 would only list PlayStation and PlayStation Portable, and Pokémon Gold and Silver would only list Game Boy Color. Please discuss it on WT:WPVG and get consensus for it before implemening a big change like this that affects a lot of articles.--IDVtalk 11:36, 11 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit to Guitar Hero II

[edit]

Hi there. I notice that an edit you performed on the 6th of April to the article Guitar Hero II was backed by a non-legitimate source. It would be appreciated if you not do that again, as it could be construed as bad-faith editing. Thank you. DesertPipeline (talk) 05:06, 12 April 2018 (UTC) The edit in question was mistakenly attributed to this user and this notice has been retracted. DesertPipeline (talk) 05:20, 12 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I had absolutely nothing to do with the paragraph you removed from the article; my edit on April 6 was the addition of the single category "Video games developed in the United States". Phediuk (talk) 05:09, 12 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Voyager I

[edit]

Hi, you added Voyager I (video game) to the category "Space combat simulators". I thought that category was reserved for outer space combat, where you're in a ship flying, shooting, etc. Voyager is more of an indoor maze crawl. Dgpop (talk) 03:57, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"by American studio"

[edit]

Please stop adding unsourced claims about game studios to video game articles, as you did in this edit. You were wrong in this edit, and I don't see you citing any sources. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 00:51, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nice catch on The Quest; there was another mobile developer named Redshift that I mistakenly cited. Also, Grundislav Games' official Twitter page says it's based in Brooklyn, NY, so yes, it is an American studio. Phediuk (talk) 01:28, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The game has been ported to the PS4 and Switch, so there's more news coverage and likely reviews of the game. I added two reviews for the game, one by M! Games, and one by Italian The Games Machine (print). I don't care enough about the game to truly expand it past that, but the page is out of date. The TGM article is pretty in depth, at two pages. [edit]

You appear to be adding unreasearched, unsourced claims to game articles based solely on the categories. This edit is incorrect. No Code is not a British studio, it's a Scottish studio. Please be careful not to hastily add incorrect information to articles. Metalliqaz (talk) 03:51, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Title of film

[edit]

I am a new Wikipedia contributor and have a question related to the title of the film. An user has created a talk page Talk: Sign Gene arguing that per the policy of WP:COMMONNAME shall be short as it is. While checking secondary and primary sources, I've come to realize that the original creators had intended calling it Sign Gene: The First Deaf Superheroes but secondary sources are split in two parts, one which just say the completed one and others the short one. Personally I find the complete title more appropriate as per the policy of WP:V, WP:NOR WP:NPOV and as an introductory film, it gives us a clear idea what the film is about. I would like to hear your opinion about it. Normaraga (talk) 13:42, 2 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The link to the dev's official website was already on the page; nevertheless, I have added a citation to the same site to clarify their location anyway. Other than that, looks fine. Thank you for your suggestion. Phediuk (talk) 08:06, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Need Help

[edit]

Hi! I've started a discussion at here for this. Would love your help now since Maestro2016 was banned. Timur9008 (talk) 16:56, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Would love your comment here. here Timur9008 (talk) 04:53, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it took 5 months (wow) but I managed to clean the highest media franchise page. Was wondering can you look at Draft:List of highest-grossing mobile games? Timur9008 (talk) 17:23, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Good work. The one thing that gives me pause here is that many of the figures seem to be added up from disparate sources, so one cannot know for sure that figures are not being double-counted, or that figures are not mixing unofficial estimates with hard data. The trade journal figures should be good. Many thanks for doing all of this cleanup. Phediuk (talk) 20:50, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Can you look at the highest-grossing mobile games Draft and possible do some cleanup there? I'm not working on that right now but I could use any help. Timur9008 (talk) 03:27, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced material in video games

[edit]

I know this is from a while ago (2018). When you added added these categories, you didn't provide a reference for the music composer (I did not check the other categories you added). Can you please add a reliable source? If there is not reliable source, the work you have done may be deleted. I tagged the article in the meantime. Thanks. --David Tornheim (talk) 20:01, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for the question; at that point (and this was several years ago now), I was adding those composer categories based on the credits for each game. Jeff van Dyck is listed as the composer in the credits for AFL '99 here. I am not sure if this is sufficient to verify the category, and this is the same reason I stopped adding them; at the time, I operated under the assumption that a game itself was a reliable source for identifying its own development staff, per WP:PSTS's guideline that primary sources can be used for "straightforward statements of fact". Top 100

[edit]

Hey there Pheduik, I’m sure you know me as the moderator for the Top 100 Referenced Games List on the talk page for List of Games Considered the Best. I’ve had user Ferret remove my DoNotArchive tag on the article, with, in his edit, stating that my list misses the point of the List of Games Considered the Best article and that it should be included into the Omnibus data if it is important. I am admittedly a little confused as to why, if that is the case, this conclusion took so long to come to, given that my list has been up with active updates for nearly a year now without issue, however if this is truly the case then I would humbly request that I may add my list to the omnibus data, seeing as I believe you are the owner of the Google Doc. If not, then I would at least like an explanation as to why this is happening now when, again, there seemingly hasn’t been an issue for nearly a year (though perhaps this is more a question for Ferret than you). Thank You. XJJSX (talk) 23:36, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've replied on my talk page. Please don't use the list's talk page as a sort of WP:WEBHOST for a related-but-not-the-same bit of information correlation. This seems to be the only editing you do. The fact that it was ignored for a long while does not preclude things changing. You might consider that time is better spent contributing to the main article space on Wikipedia. -- ferret (talk) 23:51, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
With all due respect, unless you and Pheduik are the same person then I would like to talk to Pheduik on Pheduik’s page and you and your page please. Thank You. XJJSX (talk) 00:11, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi XJJSX, thanks for the comment. I am not an admin or otherwise an arbiter of Wikipedia rules, so my comments here should not be taken as authoritative. With that said, I do think your list has some utility in forestalling the inevitable questions about which game has the most citations, which the talk page used to get often, though I can also see ferret's point that the subject matter of the list is adjacent to the article, rather than the article's subject itself. If you want to include a note about the ranked list under the "Lists" section (along with any variants), in reply to the main link to the omnibus data, I would not object; you could simply link to a Google Doc with the relevant data, and that would have at least some use. I believe ferret's objection is primarily that your Top 100 list has its own permanent section on the talk page. You can also continue to note updates when new lists are added; just please do not add more permanent headers about things that are not directly about maintaining the article. Thank you for your contributions to the page, and if you come across any suitable lists that we have not used yet, etc., we would be happy to look at those too. Phediuk (talk) 00:13, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, to clarify would you prefer a reply in the Lists talk page that is the list itself or as a link (I have a google doc that I use to draft the new rendition of the list first before updating the talk page itself). Or would you prefer I make a new, non-permanent talk page for each update of my list, with the older TP getting archived? XJJSX (talk) 00:24, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, sorry for the late response. I think that simply providing a link to the doc in the "Lists" section and noting updates within the appropriate sections on the talk page when new sources are incorporated would be suitable. Again, this is just my opinion, and I am not an admin/mod/etc. Phediuk (talk) 22:58, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Below the Root expansion

[edit]

Hi! I'm just reaching out as I've expanded an article you significantly worked on for Below the Root. I know it removed some content that you added to it, so I wanted to see if you were curious on weighing in on the changes to make sure the article is on the right track. Thanks!
