E.T. again
[edit]Hi -- sorry about the delay. Unfortuately, I've been extremely busy in real life lately, which has been cutting into my wiki-time. I've started doing a bit of copyediting on this article in my personal sandbox just to get a few ideas, and I should have time to start working on adding info tomorrow. By the way, Zap! did turn out to have some tremendously awkward prose, as promised by all the Amazon reviewers, but it also had a handful of useful facts as well. Again, I am quite sorry to have kept you waiting so long on this. My schedule appears to have lightened up, though, so I will be more readily available in the future. -- (Lee)Bailey(talk) 03:22, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Lain
[edit]Hi! I've been doing some work on Serial Experiments Lain lately, and I was thinking about asking for a peer review after the end of the collaboration thing. As I see you've been involved in good articles, and in anime, and even in good anime articles (wow!), I was wondering if you might have a look, and let me know what there is still imperative before the article can acheive GA status in the (possibly distant) future.--SidiLemine 11:36, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
Spacecraft propulsion listed for FAR
[edit]Hi SeizureDog I would like to tell you that I have listed the above article for FAR. The major issue is the lack of references. Please feel free to comment and follow the review as it goes forward. Thank you. -Fsotrain09 03:38, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

I noticed that you edited the Planetes main article. Since you've helped me with the article before, what do you think of doing collaborative effort to bring this article up to snuff? I mean, it's probably one of the best manga/anime articles in Wikipedia, and I think it just needs a little push to get it through the door. What do you say? --TcDohl 22:32, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Capitalisation Question
[edit]Hello. Just out of curiousity, which standard are you referring to when you decapped ARIA (manga) to Aria (manga)? As you may be aware, the proper writing is it fully capitalised, as can be seen on Kozue Amano's website as well as the Japanese version of this article.

Thank you for your input to this article. I am planning to include episode summaries for the first season sometime around December 10th or perhaps a few days later. I was just wondering if you plan to include them before I do because if you're not then I will be more than happy to do so. --(十八|talk) 01:14, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
- So you are suggesting that I write up enough for each of the 24 episodes so that there's enough info for an article each? Not to say that I couldn't do that, just it would take a lot of energy and time on my part. I was just planning to put in the short 2 sentence blurbs on the list so that it can become a complete list for the first season, but I am up to do detailed episode summaries, though of course those will take much longer to dish out.--(十八|talk) 06:58, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
- How far I'd be willing to go? I'd be willing to go far enough, especially if I had not only the time to kill but also the obsession along with that since I doubt I would write 24 detailed episode summaries back to back for a series if I wasn't at least midly obsessed over it. As I am currently obsessing over Kanon, I can easily see myself doing the same for that one, but then again I don't really have the time or the drive at this point, having seen only 8 of the new series and none of the old one. Also, I have never seen Shuffle! before; the first time I am going to see it will be around December 10th or perhaps a few days later depending on a few other factors. At that point I'll start writing the episode summaries and see how fast I can get done with them. But again I say that I will only go into such depth if I'm obsessing over the series; no guarantee with never having seen it myself.--(十八|talk) 16:30, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
- Kanon is your favorite ever? My my, omoshiroi since as obsessed as I am about Kanon, I doubt I could call it my all-time favorite. It's still one of my absolutes (the anime I refer to which are absolutely my top favorites; Kanon being one of them). Maybe I'm just too indecisive to chose. XD However, back to Shuffle!, sadly I was not too long ago spoiled about who Rin choses in the end of Shuffle! so that sucks having never seen it, but I still want to see the series though as that was the only thing spoiled for me. Also, now that I know an alternate reltelling is going to air in January, it will give me more reason to watch Shuffle! especially since no one knows currently how Rin will chose the second time around.

- There aren't any huge spoilers on the main Kanon page though. Don't go to the List of Kanon episodes article though since it holds a fair amount of spoilers; so much so that I scroll down really fast so as not to see all the summaries of the first series while I constantly update that page. XD--(十八|talk) 16:46, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
- While we should switch this over to IM, I'll keep this breif. One: I'm almost always on MSN as I don't like editing Wikipedia on any other browser than MSN, so I'll try you there; I'm almost never on AIM. I have seen Air and am still obsessed over it, just as much with Kanon. Me knowing he chooses Asa in the end now means almost nothing but I suppose it will be a "shock" to me that he didn't chose Kaede or one the others. Oh well, we'll see. --(十八|talk) 17:59, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
Just thought I'd like to add that I now see you've taken the plunge to create a Shuffle! network on Wikipedia and I'll help as much as I can in the coming months to help improve all the articles. ^^ First things first, I still have to watch the first anime series though.--(十八|talk) 09:39, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Quick-failure of Storm (comics)
[edit]Hi, I just saw you quick-failed Storm for GA. Can I ask you why?
- Unfree images needing fair use rationales. ==> IMHO none
- Unsourced [citation needed] tags. (Tip: Check to see if the article is in Category:Articles with unsourced statements) ==> IMHO none
- The article contains any 'negative' tags, such as (...). ==> IMHO none
- The article is semi-protected. This indicates that the article is not stable. ==> IMHO none
I just glanced over WP:WIAGA, and I find no glaring errors. So what's wrong? Thanks for reading. Onomatopoeia 08:58, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
- OK, I just sat down and made my best to fit in "fair use rationales" and stuff. Would you give it a look? Thanks. —Onomatopoeia 10:27, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your feedback and constructive criticism. I just saw how long the GAC cue is; is it better to wait until I re-nominate the Storm article, or should I be bold and re-post my GA request now? —Onomatopoeia 11:15, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
I don't necessarily disagree with your usage of the template- in fact, I think it's a good idea. However, you really must remove the clause about an article being semi-protected; as per WP:WIAGA, stability and protection from vandalism are completely unrelated. -- Kicking222 18:46, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
- Anytime. I'm completely with you on the edit warring issue; however, an edit war wouldn't necessarily constitute a "quick fail," if only because it might take some reading of talkpages and going through histories to spot an edit war. -- Kicking222 23:29, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Can you take a look at the images and let me know if they're alright? I added a fair use rationale to the screenshots.--Nehrams2020 00:53, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- Does Image:Samburgar.JPG work? I added the last line stating "The screenshot details a notable role of the actor depicted." I don't know what else to add, as when I checked the other Actors/Actresses Good Articles, some are missing or have improper Fair Use rationales.--Nehrams2020 01:19, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit]I have added fair use rationales to the offending image. Since you took the time to look at the article already (thank you), I thought it might be better to simply ask you here informally to take another look, rather than relisting. Thanks.--Fuhghettaboutit 04:41, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- As you've been away and your talk page is about to be archived, I relisted at WP:GAC.--Fuhghettaboutit 23:39, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
Nostradamus
[edit]You were actually pretty close. As you guessed, X-te miro is a form of X-te miru, which means "try X-ing". Since it's a compound of X-te and the regular verb miru, what you should then have done is look up just miru, which would have told you that miro is the imperative form.
You're also right in thinking that just Nostradamus ni kiite would have had a similar meaning in the right context (a plain -te form isn't always imperative, of course). The difference is that it loses the sense of "try" - it just means "ask Nostradamus".
Keep at it - Japanese is a language well worth learning, and it looks like you've made a very good start!
I've checked and slightly expanded the article as you requested. It was pretty accurate - just a couple of minor slips in the last character bio. The expanded story section should help you make a bit more sense of the game's rather interesting premise. ^^ — Haeleth Talk 20:55, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

List of Fictional Books
[edit]Thanks for your comment on the peer review for list of fictional books. However, the usefulness of this list is not presently in question (it's already firmly repulsed an AfD). A surprising number of people are interested in this topic -- literary theorists, literary critics, bibliophiles, writers, readers, or people who just love interesting factoids about books and literature. In fact if you look at the See also section you'll see that someone has written an entire book on fictional books -- it's a not-uncommon literary device that can be used in a variety of fascinating ways. If you have any suggestions to improve the list (even though you personally don't see a use for it!) we would be glad to hear them. Thanks :) --Bookgrrl 17:22, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Re: Fate/stay night
[edit]Since I noticed all the work you have done for the Shuffle! article and then helping me and others on the Kanon article, I would like to know your opinion on Fate/stay night's GA status since that article is lacking much of what is included in Shuffle! and Kanon. The reason I bring it up is that you don't seem to be against Fate/stay night's GA promotion even though in my eyes Kanon right now seems to be the better article between the two in terms of content, or am I wrong?--(十八|talk) 21:41, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

By the way, there is a similar discussion, you might be interested in, regarding typographic eccentricities in personal and stage names and how applicable WP:MOS-TM is/should be in such cases. It's been going on for over a month and I have recently tried to conclude it, but one of the other editors involved proves to be somewhat difficult. - Cyrus XIII 10:43, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

ahh i see i figured it had to do something like that. my first drawings were from inuyasha replicas. i turned the tv on paused the video and tried to transfer the image from the tv to the paper. the results were awsome. well with what you told me i see that i have been going at it the wrong way tring to make a character from scratch without guidlines. alright sounds good ill try it. as far as shading its not as hard. what i end up doing is, for dark shades, make a dark mark and use your eraser to blend it. for lighter marks use your pencil sideways and (make the line dark or light depending on how you want the shade to come out) use your fingers to blend it to the paper. if you want to make a white spot like the one on your drawing (the little white spot on the cheeks that contrast the color) once you finish using your finger figure out where u want that white spot and use the eraser to erase the shading to make it look like lets say a drop of water. this works great but it takes time =) its good to have someone to share tips with Maverick423 21:04, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
Ahh well in that case consider this. where is your source of light comming from? if its comming from above then everything under the chin, nose, and some of the cheeks and eyes have to be shaded. if the character has those cool looking hair styles with the little heartlike shape on the forhead (really any hair) then place a smaller version of the hair lineing on the face itself (depending where the light is comming from) and make sure its about 5 to 10 millimeters away from teh acctual hair. then shade the extra area slightly to make it look like the hair is givving off shadows. it looks awsome. as for cloths if the light is comming from above then that means that (if the character is wearing a bow like lets say Kagome) then the shadowing will be rightbelow the bow so. if the light is comming from a side then the shadow will be on the side of the bow. if the light is comming from below then the shadows will be abovethe bow. now lets say the light comes from the middle (glowing jewel shard: i use inuyasha as a good example for the fact that it shows all the diffrent shadings in details on most scenes) if the glowing is comming from lets say the bow area itself then (it gets tricky) that source of light is at your center. that means that you have to think more of a 3D veiw. shading is very light closest to the source where as the farther you get the darker the shading gets. since the light covers 360 then you have to use tactics from all angles. light shadowing from above will be placed below the light source. shadowing above (twords the face) will be placed after the chin (or if your light source is lets say 1 foot away from your character) then from the eyes up. dont forget that nose! =) and the sleves and everything else starts falling into place after a while. its kinda hard at first but just remember think of a light source. what i do is draw a small sun at the top to remind me of where the light is comming from. [edit]If you don't want a complete N64 game list then don't work on it. The Japanese version is a different game, then the Europe. Quest 64 is "Holy Magic Century" in Europe and it is "Eltale Monsters" in Japan, they are all different games for the N64, and if found one on Ebay or other places to buy it they are listed that way, your committing bigotry by wanting one listed and not another, you want a simple list then don't post it where others can change it, and add to it when it's incomplete! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Floppydog66 (talk • contribs)

In need of some advise
[edit]Hi, could I ask a favor? I need some honest feedback regarding the article Dir en grey, specifically whether or not a GA nomination would be premature. I've worked on it for some time and even though it seems to come together nicely by now, my judgment might be somewhat clouded. Ah, and by the way, more jolly capitalization discussions at Talk:Matchbox twenty#Requested move and Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style (trademarks)#×××HOLiC - thought you might want to know. - Cyrus XIII 18:17, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
Hi, just thought I'd remind you that the article has 3 days left until it's on hold status expires. Once you are ready for it to be re-evaluated, contact me and I'll do it as soon as possible. Thanks for the time, Scorpion 18:24, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

GA
[edit]- I've got a soft spot for having Ryu (Street Fighter) as a featured; the issue right now is sourcing all the stuff and getting it to not read like a GameFAQs document. Ironically, the best source for a broke Net addict like me is Tiamat's SF Plot FAQ. While it gets all its sources from legit SF mooks and such (like Street Fighter Eternal Challenge), it doesn't hack it as a WP source, and I'd have to track down and read the actual books. Pain in the butt. But there's always the dream. ^_^ JuJube 10:14, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
- I've talked to Tiamat and Lantis who are the main two SF plot buffs. Lantis has an account here, but like me, he doesn't have the actual books with him to help. A lot of the plot info is also from Japanese mooks, and even Tiamat can't help there (he has a Japanese friend who translated them for the plot guide). I have a friend who has Eternal Challenge, though, so that's at least a start. JuJube 10:34, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah. I also have to familiarize myself with FA standards. Is it important to source statements such as "Ryu can throw fireballs"? I got to study them in depth. JuJube 10:55, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

{{fact removal}}
[edit]In reference to your edit here, the fact citation was not for the Japanese name, but for the transliteration of the Japanese name, and was actually being discussed on the talk page at the time. I'm not going to put it back because it was clearly confusing and the discussion about it is currently on the talk page anyway (and it's really not a big deal), but if there's a fact tag after something that's clearly cited, you might want to check the earlier part of the line (or the latter part in case someone screwed up tagging), because with various wiki-formatting things you can't always put a fact tag where it belongs. Hyphens to colons for FF7 Compilation titles
[edit]Since you posted the same message on all the relevant articles, I figured it would be best to address you here. Anyway, the WP:MOSTM seems to apply mostly to how trademarked words are rendered in text, not the title. Case in point, the title "Dirge of Cerberus -Final Fantasy VII-" would respect the trademark and only be mentioned once at the beginning of the article while colloquially, it would only be called "Dirge of Cerberus" throught the article. Obviously, neither the full title nor somesuch like "Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII" would ever be needed outside the first sentence. Thus, it is possible to respect the trademark while still preserving "common English grammar". On the other hand, it's a little sweeping to say no one uses the hyphens. If you'll see Talk:Final_Fantasy_VII#Compilation_naming.3F, Square Enix seems to be very consistent about using the hyphens on its own material. Axem Titanium 04:05, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
Recent message
[edit]Hi, did you read my message regarding advise the GA potential of the Dir en grey article? Also, since you had a stake in that recent Clamp discussion, I though you might know about a current one regarding moving the article of one of their works, ×××HOLiC to a less stylized variant. - Cyrus XIII 14:02, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
- Not really, only the first word could be German ("you", in certain contexts). "En" could be French, "grey" British English. I recall a recent interview with members of the group on Fuse TV (I believe YouTube has it), in which they said that the name is indeed comprised of different languages, leaving it to other people to attach a meaning to it. Now, that you mention it, it guess it could really be worthwhile to find out the original airdate of that specific show and introduce it as a source for the name issue. Anything else from the top of your head, that the article could use? - Cyrus XIII 23:07, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hm, just watched the interview again, at apparently the name was mixed up of languages so that people would not attach a certain meaning to it. Reminds me of a similar interview with Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. - Cyrus XIII 00:20, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

About AKIRA references

Virtual Boy sources
[edit]Did you make those VB screenshots, or did you find them on a site? - A Link to the Past (talk) 02:39, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, I asked because I'm trying to improve sourcing on Wikipedia. I'm afraid that I'm not very knowledgeable on Virtual Boy subjects, although I'd be willing to help out any way I can in featuring one. On a similar note, I'm working on making Kirby's Dream Land a GA, and I think it's on the right track. - A Link to the Past (talk) 05:39, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
You're right, it's an immoral practice and anyone indulging in it should be thrown to the dogs. :P
Enjoy! --十八 09:35, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- I do plan on getting either Kanon, Air, or both for the PSP, and possibly either of them, or both, for the PS2, though I'd also have to get one of those things to stick in the back so it'll accept the R2 on my American PS2. Other than that, the VN market is rather limited, but that doesn't mean the project can't still be active...I think at least.
- Btw, are VNs for the PC region related? As in, would I need an R2 reader to play Fate/stay night if I bought it and tried to play it on my laptop? Not that I am going to buy it, though, just wondering for future reference since I believe you have played Shuffle!.
- And regarding your last comment on playing them to boost the articles. You know this isn't always the case as I have never played either Kanon or Air and now they're both GAs.--十八 10:12, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- I thought you would bring up the thing about the VN GAs already having been anime, so I'll have this to say. Between Kanon, Air, and Shuffle!, they each share the same format (they should since I based the new Kanon and Air formatting off of your work on Shuffle!) and so the sections that benefit from actually knowing what the series is about are: Plot, Characters, and Themes. All the other sections can be properly researched and documented. Hell, even those three could be done well if they were properly researched and the information was available. In regards to Tick Tack! and Really? Really!, I think it's just a matter of finding the info related to Release and Sales and Reception and some cleanup and I bet you could get both articles up to GA within a month's time span.--十八 11:02, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, okay, so you've got me in a tiny little loophole here. I think first we'd have to consider the ones we even can build up based on the number of resources and how much we're willing to research. Let's just say you were trying to find info on Tick! Tack! or Really? Really!; where would you go? The most obvious place to start would be the Japanese wiki pages, and while these cannot be referenced, the information is there, and for the most part it would improve an article. This of course means having to overcome the language barrior, but let me give you an example. A month or so ago when I did this edit to Strawberry Panic! and included all of that initial information on the short stories, it had taken me hours to translate the info from the Japanese wiki. I had to check, double check, and triple check my translations until I finally understood the early history of the series. Later, I found a complete translated version of the history from the page which is how I was able to create Strawberry Panic! (short stories). What I'm trying to say is, I have very little knowledge of the Japanese language, and yet with a couple of resources (chielfly Google translator if you can believe it) I still managed to teach myself the early history of Strawberry Panic!. So, it's not completely impossible, it just depends on how well you are at translating and how difficult it is to translate into English. It can be done, it just takes loads of time...--十八 11:33, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- Wow, thanks for that; it's really going to help in the future. Just one thing: Do we really have to get rid of the Getchu references? It seems that's a good source inspite of this new national ranking.--十八 00:04, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Need opinion re: Kanon soundtracks
[edit]I first noticed this a few weeks back, but three of the albums I had included in this list, numbered 3, 4, and 5, are not official ablums from Key Sounds Label or Fronteir Works and I'm pretty sure they're dojin music albums released over the course of Kanon's 8 year history. What I want your opinion on is if I should delete the three dojin albums or not. I believe I should since I don't think they're particularly notable and unofficial works typically shouldn't be included, right?--十八 07:27, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
I saw that at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Visual novels/played, you, Moogy, and Deadkid dk have "played" (can't really play a kinetic novel...) this game before and I was wondering if one of you could help with the in-universe information. Chiefly: Setting, Characters, and Themes, which is currently not there. If you didn't already guess, I'm planning to bring all of Key's visual novel articles up to at least GA by the end of this year (it probably won't take me that long, but at the latest; this is of course excluding Little Busters! which isn't even out yet and there won't be much info for it by then I'm sure) and I am trying to get as much help as I can. Currently, Clannad will get GA probably at the end of the year once the anime starts to air and more info becomes available about the reception and sales the game has achieved. Also, I'm trying to find any criticism related to the game not being an eroge, as the article states there was criticism from Key's older fans when the game came out. Since Key's made 6 games, and two are already GA, (Clannad soon to follow; Little Busters! is excluded for the time being), my main focus now is on building up Planetarian and at least getting Tomoyo After: It's a Wonderful Life out of the stub stage it's been in since it's creation. So, if you could please contribute to the in-universe (and possibly the out-of-universe) information on Planetarian, it would be greatly appreciated.--十八 10:28, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
- When I said Setting, Characters, and Themes, I was pertaining only to the Themes which are absent. Every game has chief themes related to it, just look at Kanon, Air, and Shuffle!. Thanks for the help. --十八 10:40, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
First let me say that I'm surprised you're going to try since you're the one that was telling me how hard it as going to be when I proposed Kanon for FAC, but failed. The first thing is the small Lead; I'm sure it'll come up that the Lead is too small and should be expanded. Next, there's sales ranking, but no reviews or criticism; what happened to the Famitsu scores and the review at Visual-novels.net? Next, the Adaptations section probably should do with an expansion to the point that both of the images on the right fit within the Adaptations boudaries, and then there isn't much on the Character novels. Oh, and in External links, the language icons should go at the end of the link.
There's one other thing, but it's more stylistic on my part I think. You altered the Release and sales section and now have four tables in there. It may come up that it looks bit too listy for FA, but we'll see at the FAC. Furthermore, has the article gone through intense copyediting yet? I swear, for all the copyediting I did for Strawberry Panic!, the issue still came up...And then how about something on the setting of the game; you could incorperate this into Themes like I did in Kanon. And also the captions on the image in Gameplay and Release and sales should not be that long; I'm sure this'll come up. Oh, and one last thing. There are several characters that have seiyū without articles. Consider making stubs for them. That's all I could see without going in to too much detail right now. I'll try to help as much as I can, though I got my own FAC troubles to worry about with Strawberry Panic!.
- Good job on finding the interviews; now if only I could find similar interviews with the Key staff...Anyway, yes, even though it's modern Japanese as you said, the same can be said for Kanon and Air (well, not the Summer Arc), and I'm sure the setting has an impact on the theme of flowers. Flowers are always shown in the town aren't they? Are there specific times when the flowers are shown and others they are not in order to highten the theme? And about the external links thing, this was something that came up when I was original going for Strawberry Panic!'s GA back last summer, and have since adopted this as apart of my style. It could be nothing more than a stylistic issue on my part, but I do remember someone pointing it out. Perhaps this was due to when foreign language references are used, the language icon always appears at the end?--十八 04:28, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- Truth be told, it was from the anime that I thought flowers were used more...Well, besides that, you bring up Kanon. Yes, I noticed the kanji for snow in Nayuki's name a long time ago (Name of snow literally translated), but then you say that snow doesn't play a big part in the plot, but I think it does since Ayu, Shiori, and Nayuki all love the snow, and Makoto hates it. The fact that these girls are depressed in the snow just makes you want to go over there and hug them to warm them up; I believe Key knew this and banked on it with Kanon. So I'm just saying, to put so much symbolism of flowers in Shuffle! seems kind of a waste if the setting didn't at least somewhat reflect it. I mean, the high school is named after a flower isn't it?--十八 05:02, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Footnotes in Hwang Seong-gyeong
[edit]I agree with your reasoning re: the foreign language section of Hwang Seong-gyeong, though perhaps the Japanese should be left at the top to correspond with other Japanese articles and only the Korean should be moved to the footnote? In any case Seong Mi-na, Hong Yun-seong, and Seong Han Myeong all suffer from the same condition. -- Exitmoose 00:27, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for the barnstar; I've actually recieved one once before (I'm pretty sure); it's in one of my archives. I guess now that I got two, I should create a new page for them to show off. :P [/sarcasm]--十八 06:13, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- I wrote "I love to sing songs" because a long time ago, a user forgot to sign, and I saw the user write "Singing" in the edit summary (which of course was a typo), and then another user wrote "Singing is fun XD" or something like that; so from now on when I forget to sign my posts, I write singing instead of signing. :P
- Anyway, I still have yet to see the 2002 version, but I have it all downloaded and plan to see it by the end of this week. After that, I'll probably agree with you, though I've had people tell me it's not so bad; adaquate for the times I suppose.
- Also (totally unrelated), I recently downloaded Higurashi Daybreak; it's a pretty fun game and well made for a doujin based on a doujin. XD--十八 06:38, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Well "for the times" meaning that anime has improved in content and technology in recent times, so that's what I was getting at. While remaking something so quickly is a bit odd, it's more like after KyoAni got the reception from Air, they wanted to try their hand at Kanon; so even though it's called a remake, it really isn't because KyoAni treated Kanon a lot more like the original story than the 2002 version did (from what I've heard/read). I've done some minor research into the success of the game, trying to find how it became so popular, but haven't turned up much. It seemed to set a precident, much like how One: Kagayaku Kisetsu e was the template used for future crying games made by other companies. I've read that the animation style in Kanon (visual novel) was top-notch at the time, and of course the sountrack was one of the main reasons it was so loved; the story was unique and compelling and left the player wanting more. So I guess it was many figures that made it great.
- As for Shuffle!, I don't plan on playing any Navel games since they're not really my taste in terms of visual novels. I've been trying to find a torrent of Clannad, and even downloaded one just recently, but I couldn't get it to work; I had to delete it because it was taking up too much space and I wasn't using it. -_- Funny though, in that link you gave me, I searched for Clannad and came to this link; it's funny since Clannad is listed under H games. XD
- Also, regarding Shuffle!; I was wondering if you could supply me some information regarding the installation. Is there anything special you had to do to get it installed, or did you just do it with no problems? I'm wondering since if/when I get a good Clannad torrent, I want to be sure I can play it.--十八 07:45, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- It's not my type in that it's not a Key game. :P Well that and it's an H game; and while I realize both Kanon and Air were H games (well, Tomoyo After: It's a Wonderful Life too), I would rather play the clean versions of all those games; and the fact that I love Key much more than Navel. To tell the truth, I rather disliked the Shuffle! anime, and while that's no real excuse to not like the game, I'll just say first impressions are kind of damaging. I listened to the scene, and yes, it was really sad; very depressing stuff. ;_; And of course, if I ever get a new VN, I'll send the info your way. I'm going to try for Clannad in the next two weeks or so, see I'll see how it goes.
- As for DAEMON Tools, I have IsoBuster; are they more or less the same program, or what because I had Daemon at one point, but something happened to it and I couldn't use it anymore, so now I use IsoBuster to host .iso files. And on top of that, the Daemon Tools website isn't working right now... --十八 08:27, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

- I've never had soba before, though it looks good. >:3 (I can't believe I'm replying to an edit summary). As for the Daemon/IsoBuster thing, I thought they were pretty similar, but I may be wrong...I'm going to downloa Daemon Tools anyone once the site is back up. Well, I'll do that after I get Clanand. ;) --十八 09:28, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Filth!
[edit]Wotcha - thanks for the attention and the advice. Just to clarify - the reason that we don't have a band pic is that - rationale or not - we don't seem to be able to avoid falling foul of the fair use rules. Not being personal friends of the band, none of us have our own pictures to use, and the handful of amateur shots on commons aren't really of any use. We were using a professional photo that the photographer had actually given her permission for us to use, but even this seems not to conform to the rule that we shouldn't use copyright pics if free ones are potentially available. So it doesn't seem like there's much we can do about that.
And do you mean that the logos and album covers we're currently using actually need rationales adding to their pages? I was under the impression that album covers are incontrovertably fair use, if used to illustrate the album in question, as they currently are. And would a pic of a t-shirt be fair use in the same way? Thanks again, Cardinal Wurzel 19:30, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
The King of Fighters '98 poster
[edit]Are you sure that's a promotional poster for the GAME? It seems more like the cover for a HK Comic instead. It certainly doesn't seem to look like Shinkiro's art style (SNK's primary artist at the time). Either way, I think it would be better to replace the flyers with covershots of the Neo Geo home versions of each release (cart or CD, I don't care really). VGMuseum.com (which is where Fighters Generation ripped most of their images) has the official English Neo Geo CD cover for each game up until KOF '99 anyway.Jonny2x4 04:52, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
Re: Pickle
[edit]I looked over Key's policies and I also came across the "please be modest" part of it, though that confuses me as to what they mean. Additionally, Key doesn't have a free use image gallery on their website (well, they kind of do, but it's just the images they put on the main page, seen here; it's not like any of those images would be useful to Wikipedia though. Well, I take that back; there's one image of Yumemi and a couple more with Nagisa, but the majority are of some original characters that never appeared in the games. So, as of right now, I don't think it would be possible to get free use images on these articles; it's just not really viable, and most would agree it's pretty impossible short of drawing fanart, but that wouldn't really help in show the original character design, would it?--十八 14:19, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Well, I said that if I ever got Clannad that I'd throw it your way and now I've got it! =D Here's the link. Once there, go to post #45 to download the game. I had a minor bit of trouble installing it, but after I did what they said to do here and restarted my computer after the installation, it worked like a dream! I haven't installed the voice patch, and I'm not sure if I will or not. I'm just happy enough to have the game. ^^ --十八 00:19, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
Informal meditation (closing case)
[edit]Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/2006-12-21 Street Fighter character articles has been closed. When reopened, a clear strong consensus was displayed, with very few and limited objections to the consensus. Unanimous assent is not required for consensus. A supermajority supports the previous compromise and is unwilling to further accomodate the dissenting view. Therefore, I have closed the mediation accordingly. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, you may address them on my talk page. Vassyana 17:03, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

A little while ago you said that you got your hands on some staff interviews you found in an artbook or something for Shuffle!, right? Well, I recently mananged to do the same thing with a Clannad artbook I recently downloaded and was surprised to see staff interviews near the back of it. My question to you is can you read Japanese, because I didn't think you could. If you can't read Japanese, then how are you translating the staff interviews for Shuffle!? If you can read Japanese, then would you mind doing me a favor and looking over the staff interviews for Clannad and see if there's anything we could incorperate?--十八 23:37, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Why the move?
[edit]I saw that you moved List of Lucky Star characters to List of characters in Lucky Star, though why did you move it? A request
[edit]I am currently trying to bring List of Kashimashi episodes up to a Featured List, much like how you tried to get List of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya episodes up to FL status; the reason I tried to get the Kashimashi list up to FL was because I saw how close that list came to becoming featured and since Kashimashi is already so close to becoming a Good Article, I thought it'd be great to get both the main article and the list promoted. However, at Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of Kashimashi episodes, the only issue left to be dealt with has to do with excessive use of fair use images. You can view my points on the page (which I might add were completely igorned in regards to the fair use images) and ultimately see that there is nothing in the FL criteria that says that excessive fair use would prevent a list from becoming a featured list; similarly, there's nothing in the Manual of Style which says excessive fair use is bad. While I do realize that Wikipedia strives for the use of free use images, there's nothing that can be done for these lists of episodes articles.
So here's my request; can you voice an opinion at Kashimashi's FL page and see if we can get the point across that excessive fair use cannot be taken into account when deciding an FL.--十八 08:55, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Cradle of Filth again
[edit]Hiya. How are we doing now, do you think? Your points have all been addressed where possible:
- Images still need fair use rationale. - Done
- Too many album covers cluttering up the page. - Is that just opinion or are we actually contravening a guideline? I don't really agree.
- No images of the band? - Nothing suitable in Commons, and nobody has yet come forward with a non-free image. Using recognisable logo instead at the moment.
- Fix statements like "Global sales were impressive." It really doesn't help just to source the comment, you need to show how they sales were impressive and not just tell us that they were. See Wikipedia:Avoid peacock terms. Done.
- Instead of one of the many album images, a picture of one of the shirts mentioned in "The Music for Nations era" would be nice. - Done
- Please replace all curly quotes (’) with straight quotes ('). The curlies feck up in my browser. - Not done, because I can't see the difference between the two. Are you still having the same problem?
- Tidy up your citations. Use Template:Cite web - Done
- You should really try to get an audio clip of one of their songs. You really can't understand what Cradle of Filth is without hearing them. I remember someone telling me to listen to "Haunted Shores" and then latter learning that all of that gibberish screaming was actual lyrics and just barely believing it. - Not exactly done, but we now have an external link to a site with sound samples.
Cheers for all your advice and suggestions. No rush! Cardinal Wurzel 15:38, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Hello SeizureDog, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Tezukamanga.jpg) was found at the following location: User:SeizureDog/removedOsamuTezuka. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not re-add the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 22:33, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:ShuffleCharadio05.jpg

This form message is being sent to you either due to your membership with WikiProject Good Articles and/or your inclusion on the Wikipedia:Good article candidates/List of reviewers. A new drive has been started requesting that all members review at least one article (or more, if you wish!) within the next two weeks at GAC to help in removing the large backlog. This message is being sent to all members, and even members who have been recently reviewing articles. There are almost 130 members in this project and about 180 articles that currently need to be reviewed. If each member helps to review just one or two articles, the majority of the backlog will be cleared. Since the potential amount of reviewers may significantly increase, please make sure to add :{{GAReview}} underneath the article you are reviewing to ensure that only one person is reviewing each article. Additionally, the GA criteria may have been modified since your last review, so look over the criteria again to help you to determine if a candidate is GA-worthy. If you have any questions about this drive or the review process, leave a message on the GAC talk page. --Nehrams2020 00:07, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:姉と妹の無言歌.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Unspecified source for Image:I-No.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:I-No.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:27, 8 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 11:27, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

July 2007 GAC backlog elimination drive
[edit]A new elimination drive of the backlog at Wikipedia:Good article candidates will take place from the month of July through August 12, 2007. There are currently about 130 articles that need to be reviewed right now. If you are interested in helping with the drive, then please visit Wikipedia:Good article candidates backlog elimination drive and record the articles that you have reviewed. Awards will be given based on the number of reviews completed. If you have any questions about this drive or the review process, leave a message on the drive's talk page. Please help to eradicate the backlog to cut down on the waiting time for articles to be reviewed.
You have received this message either due to your membership with WikiProject: Good Articles and/or your inclusion on the Wikipedia:Good article candidates/List of reviewers. --Nehrams2020 23:38, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

- I thought it trivial since it's only an interesting tidbit about the game connecting with real life. In any case, I moved it into the Setting section where it's talking about the human conflict; seemed to fit since the location on the moon was stated as being a place where a battle took place.--十八 03:02, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

The Pillows
[edit]I think they are just making an example out of a popular article - it took me all of 10 minutes to find resources for everything there, but a few hours to format it and read it and get it into the article - in fact I haven't finished but I'm too tired to continue. You'd think if something is that easy to source, people would add the sources. I've seen featured articles with whole paragraphs that aren't referenced - the material in them isn't "controversial" so it stays. Denaar 23:05, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:SymphonyoftheNight01.jpg

Your GA nomination of Atari video game burial
[edit]The article Atari video game burial you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold. It hasn't failed because it's basically a good article, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within seven days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:Atari video game burial for things needed to be addressed. Giggy Talk 05:02, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
Non-standard album infobox
[edit]I came across your userpage (User:SeizureDog/GGOST), which contains an Album infobox with a non-standard album type. Because of this, your userpage is listed at Category:Non-standard album infoboxes. May I ask that you either adjust the infobox type, or delete the infobox entirely? This would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. -- Reaper X 05:28, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
Fair use disputed for Image:激突四駆バトル.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:激突四駆バトル.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 02:23, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Afternoon_manga_magazine.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Afternoon_manga_magazine.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Ayanami Raising Project X Mas.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Ayanami Raising Project X Mas.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. About "themes" in manga
[edit]I just saw the edit you made today to the Manga entry, and thought you might be interested in the revision I'm now working on for the entire article. It's at Timothy Perper/Sandbox, and I'd welcome your comments and suggestions (you might want to read my User page for my credentials for taking on this effort).
There are reasons to list topics and subject in manga, which I describe briefly on the TP/Sandbox page.
Hope this reaches you!

Re: Orange Pocket
[edit]I thought you may ask me that one day as you were the one that created the article. Well, it really all started with my buildup of Dengeki G's Magazine. I was attempting to create some more articles on manga serialized in that magazine, and I created HoneyComing first, which is made by Hook, who also made Orange Pocket. After I was done with HoneyComing, I went on to Da Capo II since it also was being serialized in the magazine, and the anime is almost out for it. After that, I eventually went back to Underbar Summer and expanded it to about the same consistency as the HoneyComing article, and seeing as there was one more Hook-related game article already created, I thought I might as well build that one up too, so I did. Now I'm working on creating the article for Like Life, and a stub version will probably be ready in a couple of hours. I do not think I will go beyond that since the Japanese wiki doesn't have articles for Hook's first two games, or the games made by their sister brands, and since a lot of the info for creating these articles comes from translating the Japanese wiki, I doubt I'll get to those.
On a related note, when I first found the Orange Pocket article, I saw that you had said that it had been created by ELF Corporation, but after some minor research I found this to be wrong and that Hook developed it first. What made you think that ELF had developed it?--十八 01:19, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
