Bloodborne and God of War (2018) are the only two PS games I've gotten the Platinum trophy for, so if they're on sale, I'll definitely recommend them.

Ah OK, so it looks like there is a remastered? or at least GOW3 version for PS4, so I'll try to find that as well. It's been well over a decade since I played those games and they were my favorite from Sony, probably.

Ghost of Tsushima and that Bloodwhatever game I'm looking into as well...I guess a lot of things have come about in 20+ years that I missed.

I hope the Pro doesn't suddenly turn up quite well when the new Witcher and GTA are released.
God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok are kinda Souls like. I haven't played 3 even though it was one of the first games I bought when I got my PS4 in 2016. LOL backlogs.

Bloodborne is a masterpiece but I'd wait for a complete edition, as the DLC has the best boss battles in the game. It drops to $17.49 on PSN a lot, though it hasn't been on sale since late June. It's worth it at full price $34.99 though.

Ghost of Tsushima is great, awesome graphics and exploration. Swordfighting is pretty good, but Sekiro Shadows Die Twice is the gold standard for sword combat on PS4/PS5. Speaking of Sekiro, you can play it like a Souls game for 3-4 hours but you'll eventually run into a skills check boss who will wax your ass 100% if you haven't learned the deflection and parry system pretty well.

Bloodborne you also can't hide behind a shield like Souls games. Gotta get good at parrying and dodging.

It's pretty remarkable to me some players have reached that boss without relying on parry or the Mikiri counter. You have to be pretty skilled at dodging to even reach the skills check boss relying purely on Souls tactics. Bless their hearts for their tenacity and perseverance!

There is one shield in Bloodborne, though reading the description tells you all you need to know about how the game feels about blocking. LOL

PS - I'm surprised Sekiro won GOTY, since 90% of the voting are from game journalists. Absent a story mode and summoning, I just can't envision many of them getting pass either the Sekiro or Bloodborne skill check bosses, at least not enough to vote for it. Yet, somehow, Sekiro won.

LOL that was me on my first attempt at the game. Got to Genichiro and there was nothing I could do with him so just abandoned the game until a couple of years later when I decided I'd start over and this time pay attention to the tutorial and learn the deflect and parry system.

For me, what really sets Sekiro and Bloodborne apart from all the rest is the fluidity of their combat. Played at its pinnacle, there is no wasted motion or pace, especially Sekiro--at every moment, a player should be engaging in some kind of action, whether it be attacking, parrying, dodging or jumping (for Sekiro). The incredibly fast paced engagement really sets it apart.

There's just a rhythm and dance that sets it apart from all the rest, in my view. Sekiro in particular where there's multiple elements that must be reacted to, be it parried, dodged, jump/Mikiri countered, and in between the player must also constantly attack to break.

Unfortunately, I doubt we'll ever see another game like it again.

So, I got my hands on an 8TB nvme drive w=that I want to swap my 4tb drive for. I assume there is no way to copy the 4tb to the 8tb, correct? I already have a 4tb USB drive for my PS4 games. Can I disconnect that, slap in a blank 4tb USB drive and move my internal 4tb NVME drive to that, install the 8tb nvme, then copy the 4tb usb stuff back to the 8tb? Or should I just swap the 4tb nvme for the 9tb nvme and just redownload all my crap.

you can just get a case for the current 4TB NVMe drive and turn it into an external drive with your games already loaded onto it?

Been playing F125 and it's a fabulous game for any racing fan.

Many many years ago my brother and I used to play the ole Micropose F1 simulation game. We'd stay up all night taking turns trying to complete 60 lap races.

Just as anyone who could play Bloodborne Sekiro without resorting to parrying or the Mikiri counter, those who could play this game with a keyboard deserve the same level of respect. Even with a controller, I find it challenging & underwhelming enough where I've just picked up some racing sim equipment, e.g., direct drive base, F1 style wheel, and loadcell pedals. In my estimation, all moderate entry level stuff, but the it still easily added up to over a grand.

Will pick it up on Steam too, just in case in the future I'd like to get more serious and upgrade to the high end stuff. Not sure if it's inflation or whatever, but I had no idea sim products & peripherals have risen so much in price over the years.

yeah.....the same thing happened to me a few years ago, haha. I couldn't stand trying to race with a keyboard or controller, so I looked into cheap logitech wheellbase. I didn't like what I was reading...so about 3 months later, I had a full simucube + retro F1 wheel and Momo GT wheel, triple monitor, Heuskenveld pedals, Full F1 to GT adjustable rig, etc etc...oh and the new computer I had to build for it, hahaha. Jesus Christ that was kinda stupid. All I really wanted to do was do some retro F1 racing and pretend to be Senna, lol.

But I never got any of the F1 games because they were all so rated poorly up until then (basically all cars were the same so there wasn't much of a reason to choose one manufacturer over the other), so I stuck to Asetto Corsa and AC Competizione with GT cars. Never got a proper modern F1 wheel, though. I didn't want to dump another $1k into this...monster that I want to forget how much I spent on.

This was ~2021 I think. I found that having everything shipped from Europe was much cheaper because that stuff isn't as popular here and there are way more vendors in the EU, and we don't have to pay the VAT, so it was cheaper than just going over to Microcenter to get this stuff.

I barely use the thing, though ughh....say, if you do WANT to upgrade, I might be willing to sell off parts. :D I have been thinking about it because I assume that now, I could probably break even or maybe even make a little cash off of it :D

Along with Grand Turismo, F125 were the only racing games I've played since Microprose F1. Most of the modern arcade racing stuff just holds zero appeal for me. While Grand Turismo was fine, I just couldn't get enough enjoyment out of playing with a controller and just quit. It was the sort of game where I wasn't really into enough to consider sim racing equipment.

F1, however, holds a special place for me in the lexicon of racing. It's what I had grown up with and remember well the glory days of Senna (IMHO, the most talented and greatest of all time), Prost, Mansell, and when Schumacher was a rookie with the Benneton Ford team, along with his famous crash with Hill in Adelaide. It's really the only racing sport I follow, but, as you've said, post Microprose most of the F1 games, as with most genres, were just watered & dumbed down for the modern audience--so, I just took a multi-decade break from them.

I was highly skeptical of F125 which is why I didn't even pick it up until the 50% sale, and thought, "why not, for $30 bucks, it's worth it, if only to kill a few hours." I didn't expect to get so drawn into the game and felt much more at home with the car's handling than GT, probably since there is some muscle memory from the Microprose F1 days.

I wouldn't be surprised that in a year or two, I'll decide to upgrade to the high end racing options. So far, I'm enjoying the hobby immensely and have found my lap times improving steadily day after day. It's been a lot of fun and I can see myself engaged in the hobby for quite some time.

ah OK good to know. at the time I was planning it out, the community was basically saying that the way to go is Assetto Corsa with the community mods to get the proper F` experience: you still get laser scanned tracks and individually-tuned manufacturers, so I just stuck with that. It's.....very hard, lol. Not at all like Arcade which is what you understand. It's such a different thing. I did upset my shoulder a bit for a week, after not keeping myself planted for a session, which is when you realize that the super nerds that get seatbelts for their sims actually do it for a couple of reasons, lol.

yeah, my entire vision was to make a system where I felt like I was sitting in Senna's cockpit for the 88 Monaco qualifying run. Basically....lots of money spent to try and make that happen. Nuts. As you say, and I agree, the GOAT. But to me that dude somehow transcended being merely the GOAT...there's something weirdly deific about that guy,

Ah, I may ultimately end up trying Assetto Corsa with the F1 mods, but, for now, it seems to be a little more effort than I'm willing to expend. However, that could change, and for games I'm enthusiastic about, I have gone to great lengths to mod them for a more fulfilling experience, both Microprose F1 and Falcon 4.0 comes to mind.

Who knows, perhaps once F125 and their DLC for the 26 season runs its course, I may pickup Assetto Corsa on Steam and try it with the F1 mods to see what they have to offer. I may even try iRacing, assuming I continue to improve my sim racing skills. The last time I've engaged in any kind of multiplayer environment was Starcraft, and if anything can draw me back into online play, it would be competitive racing, assuming they've found a solution to curtail the rampant cheating.

I suppose, because of my recent sim gear, I can now consider the many racing games on Steam, whereas in the past I'd just never considered them because I lacked the equipment.

yeah just be careful with he bespoke direct-drive wheelbases....they definitely cause more troubles with lots of games, and are really meant for sim-forward content. I wanted to play Forza just for a relaxing, chill kind of experience, but I could never get it to work with the simucube and my Asher racing button plate that I have for my wheel. major bummer. I keep thinking I should have gone with Fanatec' it sure would have saved a lot of money and also expanded my options quite a bit more, and which probably would have kept me going longer with it.

the WEC stuff works well, but I didn't spend enough time with it. That was basically my current goal when the time and effort left that project, and I never really sat back down for it. : /

Yeah, I hear ya.

I'm astounded by the asking price of some of the higher end sim gear, and would have to really find a game I loved to play as much as the Microprose Grand Prix series before shelling out multiple thousands of my hard earned $$ for it.

While I've enjoyed the current F125 immensely, I'd like to see some evolution in their AI racing models before upgrading from the mid range entry level gear I'm currently using. They really need to focus less on the flash, and take a lesson from the Microprose Grand Prix series on how to model AI racing behavior. There's no reason in today's tech world they couldn't make some improvements. While they deserve credit for improving F125 over the prior years (I would never play those versions), there's always room for improvement.

In my view, not having a new iteration every year would be a step in the right direction. Just offer DLCs for new seasons and have a new iteration, say, once every three years. This will allow for the devs to improve the game, rather than just rushing it out to grab more $$.

Regardless, thus far, they've earned enough goodwill with me where I'll pick up the 26 DLC on day one, and the new F127.
