This patch adds a 2025Q4 status report entry titled “FreeBSD HPC Ports Modernization: Slurm 25.11 and Unbundled PMIx/PRRTE”.

The report highlights ongoing work to make FreeBSD a practical platform for modern HPC clusters, including:

  • Updating sysutils/slurm-wlm to 25.11.0 and cleaning up many local patches.
  • Introducing standalone net/pmix and net/prrte ports and wiring them into net/openmpi instead of the bundled copies.
  • Adding sysutils/py-clustershell as a common cluster-administration tool.

The entry follows the usual status report structure (Work completed / Work in progress / Future plans) and is placed under:

Thanks a lot for your early submission! Someone will review your report as soon as possible. At the moment, we are still finishing the 2025Q3 publication process (should be done by the end of the month).

Thanks for the quick reply, much appreciated!

There’s absolutely no rush on this. While waiting, I made a small update to the report to reflect some additional HPC-related work done during the quarter (mpifileutils + dependencies, ReFrame, and initial Spack work), and pushed an updated diff to the PR.

Happy to adjust or trim anything if this feels like too much for a single entry.
