The Publication Process
The publication of a book is a journey with many steps. Our expert editorial teams will guide you along every step of the way.
- Submit a Book Proposal
You can submit your proposal by contacting the acquisitions editor in your subject area or fill out the submission form. - Initial Assessment
Your editor will assess your proposal and evaluate how it fits into the subject area program. Additionally, an external subject specialist may peer review your proposal and provide feedback. - Review Discussion
You will discuss the peer review feedback with your editor and revise and resubmit your proposal where necessary. - Offer and Contract Signing
After our editorial board approves your proposal, a contract is drawn up and signed by all parties. The contract will include details about the scope of the book project and delivery dates for the manuscript. - Manuscript Phase & Peer Review
Your editor will provide specific stylesheets for your subject and will help you with formatting, image specifications, permissions and other content details as you write and prepare your manuscript. Your editor may also commission an external peer review of your manuscript, which can take 3 to 4 months. Please get in touch with your acquisitions editor if you’re uncertain about any steps of the process. - Submit manuscript
Now you’re ready to submit your final manuscript to your editor, either as an email attachment or through a large file transfer service like WeTransfer. - Book Production & Typesetting
A production editor will take over as your point of contact during the production phase. Your manuscript will go through copy-editing, typesetting, and proofreading. - Publication, Distribution & Marketing
