When I'd started to play organized hockey as a six-year-old, I quickly realized those who are asked to play goalie often quit the sport, and those who choose to play goalie are stuck there forever and are a little bit crazy. Ask anyone who plays hockey, and they'll tell you this, even the goalies themselves. Was it being a goalie that made you crazy, or did only crazy people want the job? It hurt more to lose than it felt good to win, and a goalie is fueled by the avoidance of pain.
