Corduroy is a very cute name for a bear and I guess the underlying message of the book is loneliness and how one person can come around and change all that. It really is a precious read that I remember very fondly :) ...more

The book itself was pretty good but that other stuff topped the cake. This book was basically your typical end of the world book. An asteroid, meteorite or whatever hits the moon and shifts just a little closer to the Earth. And then there's chaos and mayhem and pandemonium etc. etc. This book is told through diary entries which normally would have been unfortunate but in this case it was okay, even if the girl in the story was a little too self indulgent for my tastes. Well anyway, besides the fact there were far too many unanswered questions and whining, this was one of the best reads for me in 2010. Chao! ...more

What a darn awesome book! For some reason I like to read books about fellow geeks, nerds, whatever, such as myself. So after reading Saving Maddie by the same author and found out about this book, I was immediately excited. Because it's about math. And that means this girl's a nerd xD. And even though I kinda die a little inside at the mention of math, I was still really happy about reading this book. I have to admit I was a little disappointed when I realized that this girl, Rhonda, had an abortion(not that I'm pro-life or trying to make political statements in a book website) but I just kinda wanted to read about a pure, nerd girl. But I was happy again once I got into this book. And as I said it was awesome! OOH YEAH! :) ...more

Which is weird because this book in a way reminds me of Twilight, which I cannot abosolutely stand. But unlike Twilight, this book has depth and at one point of this book I thought I was going to cry. And you know, I'm not sure how much I'll like this book after it becomes a movie, because then it'll become even more like Twilight, all hyped up.
I don't want to give you the impression that this book had the same stupid subject matter as Twilight however, because it doesn't and the only reason I am comparing the two is because of how popular the two books are. This book, is about a girl named Katniss. Who lives in some kind of future world where what is now North America is now called "Panem". And what is now separated into states and provinces is then separated into "districts". Katniss lives in district 12 which is the poorest and has the worst reputation. To keep all the districts in line after the rebellion of the now non-existent district 13, the "Capitol" hosts every year something called "The Hunger Games". Hence, the title. Then, 24 people, two people from each district, a girl and a boy, are picked randomly to compete in the games where they will fight to the death. And when Katniss's dear sister gets calls, Katniss volunteers to take her place...
Man, this book was so awesome. I would tell more, but I'm just so...what's the word, hyped up right now. Can't wait to read the sequel and then the one after that! :D...more
