The First Ever Detective!

In a Paris apartment, a lady is found dead, brutally slashed, not far the corpse of her daughter, stuck in the chimney; a seemingly unfathomable mystery to resolve, with a suspect and a murderer on the loose. Can you believe this is the first modern detective story ever? AMAZING! Regardless of what one may think of the man or the genre, we owe it all to Poe. The inspiration for Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes, Christie’s Marple and Poirot, and countless others...

The infallible all-knowing detective, the faithful companion, the murder mystery, the near useless local police force, the clue gathering, and the inescapable ratiocination info dump at the end. Here’s where it all began. Every fictional detective that followed, just a better or worse modified copy.

Not a fav to be honest; remarkable as it may have been being the first, I ultimately think Dupin pales in comparison to Holmes, Poirot and Marple, to name a few. Dupin is just not that likable, and it just doesn’t measure up with the modernized versions we have today. Still, I find extremely INVALUABLE to know the original first, because it puts everything else into perspective.

It could be said Poe borne the detective, but Doyle made it humane, and Christie super cozy. Recommendable, for the inquisitive one.

¡El Primerísimo Detective!

En un apartamento de París, una señora es encontrada muerta, brutalmente acuchillada, no lejos el cadáver de su hija, atascada en la chimenea; un misterio aparentemente insondable para resolver, con un sospechoso y un asesino suelto. Depende de C. Auguste Dupin, un detective amateur sorprendentemente inteligente, y su confiable compañero, intentar resolver el caso, antes de que el asesino escape.

¿Podés creer que esta es la primera historia moderna de detectives jamás? ¡ASOMBROSO! Independientemente de lo que podamos pensar del hombre o del género, se lo debemos todo a Poe. La inspiración para el Sherlock Holmes de Doyle, Marple y Poirot de Christie y tantos incontables otros...

El infalible detective sabelotodo, el fiel compañero, el misterio del asesinato, la casi totalmente inútil policial local, la recopilación de pistas, y la ineludible racionalización sobrecarga de información al final. Aquí es donde todo empezó. Todo detective ficcional que siguió, sólo una mejor o peor copia modificada.

No es un favorito para ser honesto; por notable que sea ser el primero de todos, en última instancia creo que Dupin palidece en comparación con Holmes, Poirot y Marple, por nombrar algunos. Dupin simplemente no es tan querible, y lamentablemente no está a la altura de las versiones modernizadas que tenemos hoy. Aún así, encuentro extremadamente INVALUABLE conocer el original y primero, porque pone todo lo demás en perspectiva.

Se podría decir que Poe dio nacimiento al detective, pero Doyle lo hizo humano, y Christie muy acogedor. Recomendable, para el ser curioso.
