Motivation
[edit]Apparently in last April, the Latindex Portal (https://latindex.org/latindex/) changed its whole indexing system. Not only the url scheme, but also the identifiers themselves, without any redirection. Moreover, the new identifiers remain simple integers, so the old regexp remains valid and we have no way to distinguish between old and new identifiers.
In Wikidata, Latindex ID (archived) (P3127) has been updated for the url scheme formatter URL (P1630), but no update made for the identifiers. So, Wikidata now provides false links. For example, Nuevo Mundo, Mundos Nuevos (Q3346085) links to https://www.latindex.org/latindex/ficha/15703 instead of https://www.latindex.org/latindex/ficha/11055. The big deal is the confusion between old and new identifiers (numbers) if we update the current property, so I think the only solution is to create a new one, then slightly fix and deprecate Latindex ID (archived) (P3127).
FYI, a colleague of mine fixed the Mir@bel database (https://reseau-mirabel.info/) using the Latindex API. I plan to do the same if we create the new property.
- Retrieve the JSON data from the export of advanced research with no criteria (~15 MB) : https://www.latindex.org/latindex/exportar/busquedaAvanzada/json/%7B%22idMod%22:%220%22%7D.
- For each json block, retrieve the numeric identifier and ISSNs (ISSN-E and ISSN-P) as the external key. GAllegre (talk) 17:46, 17 September 2022 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]- what a disaster. i suppose this is the right way to fix this. can we set the old format url to an internet archive link for some past date? BrokenSegue (talk) 03:48, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
- to be clear Support this approach. my question is about what to do with the old property
- BrokenSegue (talk) 18:00, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
- I think the only thing to do with the old property (P3127) is to restore the Url format and the Url regexp and to declare the property deprecated. As requests in old format lead to a (500) Server Error response (example), I don't see anything better to do in Wikidata. The Wayback machine has a snapshot for Latindex dating December 11, 2021 (example) but I don't think Wikidata has to implement a link to that. GAllegre (talk) 12:53, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
- Support this is the right way to fix the mess. Cheers, VIGNERON (talk) 07:01, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
