盾臂龜（Geochelone sulcata）係一種原產非洲嘅陸生龜。係種受歡迎嘅寵物。
特徵同習性
[編輯]盾臂龜係世界上第三大隻嘅陸上龜品種之一，身長可以去到八十厘米。長大咗嘅盾臂龜（特別係龜公）嘅盾片前部邊緣係向上捲曲嘅，背甲上嘅年輪輪廓分明，前肢前方表面覆俾又厚又大嘅多節鱗片冚住。為免熱到脫水，盾臂龜會挖窿避暑。佢哋喺清晨同挨晚時分最活躍，並會喺朝早曬太陽取暖。交配嗰陣，龜公會先圍住龜乸轉圈，有時重會用背甲撞佢。每次生蛋可達三十隻，而孵化時間大概係212日。
分布
[編輯]盾臂龜分布喺非洲撒哈拉沙漠以南部邊緣地帶，主要喺乾旱嘅草原度生活。所以周時會受到獅子，禿鸛之類嘅猛禽猛獸襲擊。
