ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS.
1) ROCK. I must have ROCKS in my head because I just don't "get" how/why this book received so many 5-star reviews.
2) PAPER. It's impossible to cover even a small scrap of PAPER with any redeeming attributes about this book.
3) SCISSORS. This was a 10.5-hour audiobook. Perhaps if the author used a pair of SCISSORS to cut/refine some of the book's discombobulated details, I would have enjoyed the book more.

This book about "Mr. and Mrs. Wright" did not sit "right" with me.
THREE DISCLOSURES:
1) I am not a fan of slow-burn books with eye-rolling elements that go beyond the realms of belief.
2) I am also not a fan of "retreat" books with protagonists experiencing bizarre events when "escaping" to new destinations.
3) I selected this book because I am a huge fan of "Do you really know the person you married?" books and I also enjoyed author Alice Feeney's HIS AND HER.
I listened to the audiobook. Both narrators did an outstanding job with the narration.
2 stars, rounded up.

Yours is one of the first less than stellar reviews I've seen. It's always hard to be the one who goes against the grain. Great review Jayne.I like slow burn and retreat books so hopefully it will be a better read for me, but eye roll level implausible elements are rarely my thing.

Terrific review, Jayne! I was surprised that I figured everything out before the twists were revealed on this one.

I agree! I gave one more star because the writing was good, but it was incredibly slow paced. I can’t imagine listening to this. I read and was able to start skimming as I went along!
