The Complete Sherlock Holmes

Completionism, my dear Watson.
The whole shebang. The entire 9 book Sherlock Holmes series by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, featuring arguably the best detective the world has ever seen, in his neverending adventures with his ever faithful companion, Dr. Watson.
Was it worth it? Yes. Would you do it again? No. As much as I’ve enjoyed it, this was not one of my favorite series, and even if it were... Life is too short and TBR too long to read books twice. But anyways, I have my badge of honor now, and nothing can take that away from you.
My work here is done. A door closes and another one opens. And now with perfect peace of mind I can finally move on to Agatha Christie, and back to my Hiatus.
See you on the flip side people!
It’s public domain, you can find it

PERSONAL NOTE :
[1894] [1796p] [Collection] [Recommendable]

IMPORTANT: For a sort of HEA ending for the series I strongly recommend saving 8. His Last Bow for last, right after 9. The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes
★★★★☆ 1. A Study in Scarlet [3.5]
★★★☆☆ 2. The Sign of Four [2.5]
★★★☆☆ 3. The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes
★★★★☆ 4. The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes [3.5]
★★★★☆ 5. The Hound of the Baskervilles
★★★★☆ 6. The Return of Sherlock Holmes
★★★☆☆ 7. The Valley of Fear
★★★★☆ 8. His Last Bow [3.5]
★★★☆☆ 9. The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes [2.5]
★★★☆☆ 10. The Complete Sherlock Holmes

I've got to get down to re-reading this for my upcoming lecture, hope to see your review about it soon! Love your reviews of the classics, brings back fond memories. Kudos Federico! Also, here's wishing you a Happy Valentine's Day (I think we religious sisters have the freedom to wish men today, so long as we are thinking of St. Valentine) & at the same time also hoping you are having an eventful Ash Wednesday - it is a comic situation here in Bandra West (Mumbai) where I come from - no one knows whether to celebrate or mourn & so they are doing something in between which is quite mad to observe! Cheers! :)

Also, here's wi..."Wow. That is one complicated Holiday! Here it's mostly cheerful but dunno, I usually pay no mind to it, not even to my birthday. It all seems to have become so commercial to me I just try to avoid it, if I can. All the best with Sherlock! This is one long book btw! Are you going to read the whole series again O.o? I'll be uploading this review next week I think, and then immediately reentering hibernation mode again. Cheers to you too :D !
Georgie wrote: "I’m nearly finished reading through this too!! Well done for completing 👏🏼"Yay! Yes, I see you are almost on the finish line too. Well done Georgie :D
Morphing_kashi wrote: "I felt the same way when I completed my book of 'complete Sherlock Holmes'. Achievement unlocked! 😂"Wear that achievement with pride Morphing 🏅!
Flo wrote: "Congratulations. I'm also tempted by it. :))"Thank you Flo! It's always there if you ever want to risk it ;)
See you on the flip side! Fantastic '70s slang there. Or should I say "totally righteous slang there, man!" 👍 Congrats on finishing the series. I'm doing series completion myself this year so I know how you feel getting one done and dusted. You do, indeed, have your badge of honor! 🥇
Thank you so much Berengaria <3 ! Sometimes we have so many series started and fronts opened at the same time... It's like watching a ton of movies and never finishing not even one! It brings a lot of peace truly finally having some of them done and dusted :D
"Was it worth it? Yes. Would you do it again? No.".......this made me laugh Fede. Great review mate - Holmes, as good as he is, is a bit of a smart arse isn't he? Or is that harsh? 😉
Mark wrote: ""Was it worth it? Yes. Would you do it again? No.".......this made me laugh Fede. Great review mate - Holmes, as good as he is, is a bit of a smart arse isn't he? Or is that harsh? 😉"Thank you Mark! Overall the series is good! It was just not THAT good for me to reread the whole thing again. And like I said, even if it were, I stand by my principle; never a book twice. Life's too short mate 😉
Good for you, Federico! I hope you’ll enjoy Agatha’s work and curious to read your thoughts about it. Honest. :-)
Debbie Y wrote: "Good for you, Federico! I hope you’ll enjoy Agatha’s work and curious to read your thoughts about it. Honest. :-)"First Miss Marple and then Poirot :). Thank you Debbie!
Excellent review, Federico! I don't know if I will ever read the complete Holmes. I don't much like his kind of talkative obnoxious 'you don't know shit, but I'm the bee's knees genius' logic. I'm more of a Christie fan. ;)
Congratulations on reading the whole series by Arthur Conan Doyle!! I can’t wait to see your thoughts on Agatha Christie (I know that’s going to be fun)! :)
Haha honestly, completing the whole Sherlock Holmes series really does feel like something to be proud of! Congrats😉❤️

Sounds like they are much more likable than Doyle's!
Rachel wrote: "Congratulations on reading the whole series by Arthur Conan Doyle!! I can’t wait to see your thoughts on Agatha Christie (I know that’s going to be fun)! :)"Thank you so much Rachel! Miss Marple is manageable. Poirot.., well, that'll certainly take a considerable amount of time O.o
Imme wrote: "Haha honestly, completing the whole Sherlock Holmes series really does feel like something to be proud of! Congrats😉❤️"Thank you so much Imme! Completing a full series is always something to be very proud of. 🥇

Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie were perfect reading accessories during my middle school years— have always wanted to read Poirot in order (started but somewhere lost track of that goal… lol) but your wonderful review has me thinking maybe it’s time to go back and revisit Holmes again… from start to finish!! 😎
Dmitri wrote: "By Jove, I think you’ve done it! Congratulations old boy!"By Jove! It's like a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders! And now I'm adding thrice as much with Agatha Christie lol. Thank you Dmitri!
Heidi wrote: "Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie were perfect reading accessories during my middle school years— have always wanted to read Poirot in order (started but somewhere lost track of that goal… lol) b..."Wow! I see you have read several of both Christie and Doyle series Heidi! I can't say I'm fond of rereading at all, but I'm all on your side on filling the missing gaps so you can get your award lol 🥇
Hope you'll love Agatha's work a bit more. And you definitely earned your Sherlock badge, Federico :)
Thibault wrote: "Hope you'll love Agatha's work a bit more. And you definitely earned your Sherlock badge, Federico :)"I won it fair and square lol. Thank you so much Thibault :D !
yay! Can't wait to see what you think of Christie's works (beware of my wrath if you rate her books low). :P
Srivalli wrote: "yay! Can't wait to see what you think of Christie's works (beware of my wrath if you rate her books low). :P"Wow. I see you've read dozens of her works Srivalli! Mighty impressive. Looking forward to following your steps and liking them as much, and hiding when I don't lol.
Federico wrote: "Wow. I see you've read dozens of her works Srivalli! Mighty impressiv..."Do that. Hiding should help. ;)
Well at least you read the series and will never have to do it again! Sounds like you are satisfied. Great review Fedo 👍
Tina wrote: "Well at least you read the series and will never have to do it again! Sounds like you are satisfied. Great review Fedo 👍"Thank you so much Tina! Yes, satisfied to have read it, and satisfied it is over lol.
I’m so happy you enjoyed this collection, Federico! I still have to read other books in this series.
Nora wrote: "I’m so happy you enjoyed this collection, Federico! I still have to read other books in this series."No need to rush it Nora! I think all these little stories tend to get old rather quickly if read all in a bunch lol. I took for myself almost a year to finish everything :p
So very well said, Federico! But, it does feel good to have a series crossed off your list, like the victorious reader you are! Wonderful review, and enjoy your time off! 😊
Amina wrote: "So very well said, Federico! But, it does feel good to have a series crossed off your list, like the victorious reader you are! Wonderful review, and enjoy your time off! 😊"Near compulsive completionism is a curse lol, but it does help finishing series :). Thank you so much Amina!
Congratulations are in order! We now know who to come to for all things Sherlock Holmes. Well done, my dear Federico.
Jan wrote: "Congratulations are in order! We now know who to come to for all things Sherlock Holmes. Well done, my dear Federico."It has been a pleasure, mostly. Thank you ever much, dearest Jan!
Marquise wrote: "What sent you on a Sherlock binge? :)"Completionism, my dear Marquise! And took me nearly a year to read them all. Just read the last three fairly quickly so I could start with Agatha Christie without having to look back :)
Even though I'm a huge mystery reader, I just never took to Sherlock Holmes. I also read the complete works, way back in high school haha. Glad you got your badge, at least! :)
Great review, Federico! I really need to get around to reading and finishing all of Sherlock Holmes myself. Maybe this year will be the year, haha. 😅Anyway, enjoy your time with Christie! I look forward to hearing your thoughts on her works. 😊
Yun wrote: "Even though I'm a huge mystery reader, I just never took to Sherlock Holmes. I also read the complete works, way back in high school haha. Glad you got your badge, at least! :)"Thank you Yun! Even though I read them all can't say I'm a Sherlock fan. Maybe Miss Marple or Hercuile Poirot will fare better? We'll see xD
Marquise wrote: "And why Christie? Also completionism? She's my fave. :)"I've always been intrigued about the greatest books/authors of all time, also by nationality and genre. Aren't Doyle and Christie arguably the best mystery authors of all time? Have to check them out some day, and that day has come. I start with one book, completionism does the rest.
Stephanie wrote: "Great review, Federico! I really need to get around to reading and finishing all of Sherlock Holmes myself. Maybe this year will be the year, haha. 😅 Anyway, enjoy your time with Christie! I look ..."Thank you so much Stephanie! One book a year, one book a month. Even if slow, eventually all things can come to completion, in time :)
Ahhh they made us read enough Sherlock Holmes in HS to last me two lifetimes. Kudos and utmost respect to you for getting through them all!
Meredith wrote: "Ahhh they made us read enough Sherlock Holmes in HS to last me two lifetimes. Kudos and utmost respect to you for getting through them all!"Thank you so much Meredith! I can definitely see so many stories becoming unbearable over time, especially with HS enforced readings. Glad to see you survived with your desire for reading relatively intact lol xD
